Engine Bay Carbon Fiber pics

Just got some new Carbon Fiber stuff for the engine bay. I'm still waiting on getting the engine cover. So far the carbon fiber under the hood is the MS strut bar, ECU cover, Battery Cover, and Fuse Box Cover. Also have a radiator cover in the works of being custom made. Excuse the big bulky ugly intake box I'm waiting for the RB intake to come out before I get a custom cover for it too. Here are some pics.

Oh yeah, all 3 covers cost me $150 from a company called CarbonWerks. Here is a link to their site

http://www.carbonwerks.com/newmainpage.html

Now they don't have the RX-8 peices listed yet, so if you're interested email the owner Leo.

it's a shame most of the carbon fiber items are double sided taped on top of the existing parts, instead of a replacement part.

Actually, I used velcro to secure them, that way I can take them off when I do work in the engine bay

And you can get ones that are made entirely of carbon fiber, but they cost upwards near $800 for the whole engine compartment. here's a link to a site that does just that.

**EDIT** pics won't show up, so go to this link to see pics of them http://www.cftype.com/carbon_fiber/?...llery&galId=25 **EDIT**

Well, the weight savings alone will mean that the carbon fiber parts pay for themselves in less than a month.

Those covers dont weight anything to begin with though. I can see where you are coming from, but I don't see any advantage of spending the extra money for peices that are 100% carbon fiber

Leo at Carbon Werks just updated his website with the engine bay peices for the RX-8. Here is a link.

Nope. I bought the genuine velcro stuff, not the generic brand. Got it at Home Depot for about $8. They are very very secure and do not rattle around what so ever. If you do go with the velcro to hold them on, I suggest cutting 2" peices of velcro out before applying it to the covers. That way you don't over do it.

Put the fuzzy side on the cover and the hard nylon side on the stock cover. To make sure it all lined up right, I attached the fuzzy side to the CF cover, then stuck the hard nylon side to it. Before mounting, take off the back of the nylon one and then place the CF cover on. That way everything lines up. Hope that made sense. Wishing I took pics of mounting it now for better reference. If you have any ?'s, just PM me and I'll be happy to help out

What do you mean by 100% carbon fiber? If you mean direct replacements, the CF Type ones aren't. The CF Type pieces are carbon fiber, but the ECU, battery, and fuse box covers are over-covers just like yours, while only the radiator shroud and engine cover are replacements.
