Cost to paint...

A local paint shop quoted me $125 to paint the front lip but no install...told me he will not touch aftermarket kits that are not genuine Mazda kits...

Is that expensive?

What front lip is this? I guess the price would depend on the size of the lip. And I'm assuming that will make the lip ready to go? With a clear coat and all? If it's a good-size lip, I don't think $125 is an unreasonable price.

I'm sure there are plenty of shops in your area that will install that for you if you're not able to do it yourself.

At least as far as Cali prices go - $125 is a good deal!!!!!

I was quoted anywhere from $800 - $1300 to paint my body kit. Paint only folks - no install. That comes at to $200+ per piece.......

that depends on what kind of paint you get, there are more than one kind of metalic/mica paint that will match the color, but they are not all the same quality.

I think mazda uses PPG paint (not sure) and its a 2 step, so its paint then clear coat.

To have enough paint/supplys (tape, ect) to do my front bumper cover, hood, and blend both fenders was around 180 I think.

Our paint is not a 2 step, in fact it's a 3 step. (primer, light green base, red, clear)

I'd guess about $200 just for the paint. That is if you get Du Pont or something along those lines.

on second thought, red maybe the only 3 stage color. That of course would make it better

I'm told by my body shop guy that the red is incredibly expensive because of the metallic. The price we pay to look good. :p

I know that is one reason why it was so expensive to paint the white - for the pearl. I assume that it would be the same for any of the colors with pearl or metallic
