Colored seat backs

Hi,
i'll get my winning blue / black leather RX-8 hopefully next week.
There is no option for two-tone seats on blue, and I think a black seat with blue inserts would be a little over the top for me.

Has anybody colored the plastic back of the front seats in the car's color yet?

I'm thinking about it and seeing some pics would be great...even if they are photoshopped ... :D

Put a set of blue Recardos it... I think that will be cooler.

If you want to match the 2 tone leather yourself I think it will loook superb. Like the yellow Jap spec RX8 with yellow/black tone. VERY NICE

I agree. Take it to an upholstery shop and see what they could do for you. 2-tone blue would be awesome as long as they get the right shade of blue.

hey...that is a cool idea...hmm...i might have to play around with photoshop....I was thinking of maybe getting an Anodized replacement rotary symbol for the seat headrests..any one have thoughts on that? Anodized to the color of your ride...i think that would be cool too...maybe..

The colored rotary symbol would look really good IMHO. The colored plastic on the seat also looks good, like one of the preproduction models

Question

I would wonder how labor intensive it would be to paint the plastic seat back with having to remove the side impact airbags. The photoshop pic looks cool for the non-two tone seats, but IMO would be over the top in my car; I have the red/black leather. However, I would like to throw out the idea that the rotary symbol should have been incorporated into the interior doors as they look rather plain.

Excellent work elisemk1! I like the colored seat back. The blue looks great and I think most colors would; though I wonder how it would look in yellow.

How about making the aluminum down the inside middle of the car the body color as well? What does everyone think of that?

I looked at a yellow car with yellow/black leather. It was Katskin and was very well done. It is much nicer leather than stock, and they matched the yellow of the car perfectly unlike some others I have seen.

If and when I order an RX-8, I will get cloth and have my leather done regardless of what color I decide on. I don't want Bose or a sunroof anyway.

M-ster - there you go again attaching an image that I can't see.

Thanks for hooking me up with the yellow painted rear bumper yesterday. It looks great.

From now on, anytime you attach something to the forum you should automatically e-mail me so I know what you're showing.

Not just your opinion, my too. I think it looks fantastic.
May I ask for the process of getting that done.

Cheers

It was done by my dealer and it was not so easy as he thought because of the airbags in the seats.
