carboninmotion.com Any Interest? Vendors Please Read

Hello guys,

I am writing this to gauge interest in their body kits. I don't want to give any details yet, but I promise, they are exciting! The only problem right now is I need to find a place that is willing to be our shipping location/shop or Vendor for this to happen. We need one location we can have all of the parts shipped to. Anyone on here have any suggestions? Maybe one of our vendors can be the accepted drop point for this and they can add a small fee for holding. I am not going to go into what they offer because you can see that on their site. Well guys, what do you think? Keep in mind the exchange rate is 1/3 the cost for us, so the shipping is the issue. Let's see if anyone is interested in being the drop point.

Here's the deal, I have contacted the company and they have agreed to do a GB. If we get 10 people we can get a 30% discount. There are other details but that is the gist of it. What does that mean? That means that most kits are around 1k or less, and if we can get 10 people, then that is $685 or so for the whole kit! I think you guys realize for that price, it's a much better deal than some of the other company's kit's out there for that price. With the GB we get a discount shipment. It's a big deal, the only problem is we need a place to ship these to, that is a reputable shop or a person that will be able to hold on to them and ship them out to the respective buyers. I just priced out the original RE- Amemiya bumper only from two sources, and the shipped quotes for both were between $1800-2000, so you guys know the cost of some of the originals is way expensive. Obviously, when you buy the original, you can get proper fitment easier, but these replicas don't look all that bad. Not to mention they have a killer R3 conversion for the S1.
I am not able to be the receiver as I don't have the room, but someone else may be able to swing it.

Here is what Carbon in Motion wrote to me.

Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, I'd be interested to see if we can do a Group Buy for you and your buds. Generally speaking, if you can confirm up to 3 full bodykit sets (Front Bumper, Side Skirt, rear Diffuser or Wing), I'd be able to give you a 15% discount on the price of the kits. For instance, the Full RE Kit costs RM 3,000 per set. You'll be able to get them for RM 2,550 a set. But you'll need to make the 3 set minimum order. Do let me know if this is a good enough GB offer for you.

If you hit 5 kits, then I'd be able to give you 20%, but if you're able to hit 10 kits, I'd be willing to give you 30% discount.

I'll post a GB when I confirm the shipment costs.

Can I have 1 single shipping address in the US for this? For example, a motor workshop which you guys use perhaps? I'll then work out a shipping cost for the GB prior to posting it on RX8club.com.

Is they anybody that is willing to accept shipment? That is the only thing that is holding us back right now from the launching of this GB. Carbon in motion just asked for a shipping location for us and that's it, they will do the rest as far as setting up the group buy. I am merely trying to find someone to accept the shipment.

Anyone?

They actually have a kit I want (but can't afford until after xmas), but i had a thought...rent a storage unit. You can have the boxes shipped and held at the post office, then swing by and run them to the storage unit for holding (shouldnt be more than 50/mo, and you might be able to get a deal with like first month free or something)

^That could be a risky venture: $50/month until you sell out. I would get confirmations before proceeding.

Yeah, but he needs at least, what, 3 kits sold before the group buy would really count? So, you charge a 20 dollar fee for holding or something. The first three kits would basically be shipped right away anyway, so you really wouldnt need a storage unit unless more people started getting in on it, in which case (they pay a deposit) and you just tack on 10 or 20 bucks or whatever to the final cost (maybe 10/mo?) for holding. It's doable...albeit a giant pain in the ***.

Great points about the storage, but like RXreligion stated, a little too risky if more people trickle in. That is why if someone has or knows somebody with a shop that is willing to hold them for us, it would be much easier. That is why I threw out if any vendors are interested in holding for us. I really don't care about the discount on the kits themselves, it's the shipping that starts to add up. He said that if I order and one other person orders a kit, it will fit in one box, so we could split the shipping down the middle, which would still be too expensive IMO, hence the group buy. I don't think it is necessary to buy the kits as listed. You can mix and match stuff too, I.E. MS sides and RE Front with INGS rears, or whatever. Or, you can just buy a bumper. Now the discount may be different, but like I stated, if ten people buy bumpers, sides, or rears, then I am sure some kind of deal can be worked out. Honestly, I am really interested in that RE front bumper, everything else can be bought over here pretty cheap. But if enough people get on board, I'll buy sides/rear etc.
-We'll just see if anyone is interested in holding at this point, if not, I tried.

Once we get a drop point, he will launch this officially.

^ Understandable so what should I do if I am never going to be able to put what I want on my car because I can't afford, just drive around stock? Some of us can't spend 20K modifying their vehicle. You have obviously done a nice job with your's, but I don't think it's necessary to bash other's because they want to modify their car and can't afford a 4k body kit. I am just trying to help but comments like this make me not want to come on this site anymore.

good, this isnt a Honda Civic or a Mustang. The overall price of the car now a days is a result from the reflection/perception of poor gas mileage and low reliability. It doesn't mean however that it is not an exclusive sports car with the potential for world beater status. What you are dealing with now is the true worth of the car, replacement parts are expensive and the aftermarket is even more expensive. You of course can put whatever you want on your car but its a disrespect to the original tuners and their creativity and craftsmanship, and to the car and the community here. I would love to buy a 964 911 and put a RWB body kit on it but the maintenance and aftermarket of Porsche parts would bankrupt anyone that doesn't make six figures am I going to go buy one and make knock off parts for it? Hell no...

You need to read and follow the site rules before you can post a Group Buy.
