It may be the same weight as the stock one...I don't think the weight matter as such a small item on the car.

Yeah the install is kinda hard trying to figur out where to drill your car. Jenkins came up with a good idea of cutting a slot and the moving the vent to get a better fit. Thanks Jenkins

hey the pic with the circle grill... what is that behind it? does it actually lead to the engine bay? or is it my imagination?

We ended up slotting the holes quite a bit to get it to sit in just the way we wanted. I grabbed some bigger washer from the shop. The tough part is working with the inner fender pulled away, but not completely removed. My wrist look all sliced up.

I saw some carbon "look" mirrors on Vivid's site that have the look of the orginal Mazda Speed prototype's mirros (hole through the middle). A search on Froogle shows many others with them but they are all about $500. I guess if I just paid 180 for these little guys $500 for electric mirros is justified ... maybe.

They are lighter then stock by an ounce or two I would guess. Not much but you can feel a difference.

I didn't see any instructions but it isn't that hard. Undo the screw and buttons that hold the front inner fender on. Peel it back to reach back behind the grill. The stock grill has 3 rectangular tabs along both of the outside edges that you squeeze to push the grill out. Then you will see the two metal cross members that run across the grill cut-out where you will drill a slotted hole where the pre-mounted studs on the new grills will go through. Then thread the washer and nut on the back and tighten up. Put the fender back in and your done.

The strakes will fit on these CF grills, I have tried it and it bolted up fine. Here' s the image....excuse the masking tape. I was taping the grill to prep it ready for JB weld.

Behind the circle mesh grill is main frame or side wheel well. You don't see any engine parts. The picture had a glare from the sun when the photo was taken, therefore you see white spots or so.... don't believe me, try removing your plastic fender grill and you will see inside your fender. Something mysterious lived inside.

j/k
