Can you paint a CF hood?

Im in the market for a new hood. Im looking at a CF hood but i don't know if i like the way it looks with my white 8. Wondering if it is possible to paint a CF hood? if so does anyone have pics of how this might look?

I'm assuming for the weight savings. That or he wants the vented look. Either way, know that the RX8 hood is light as it is and the CF hood wont save much weight.

I believe it would be done mainly for looks. I for one, HATE the look of CF and have long wanted a Varis vented hood. when I get it, I will be painting it black to match the car.

so to answer the OP: yes, it's possible.

Yeah if you want a vented hood, etc then yeah paint it but if your gonna get an OEM style CF and paint it thats dumb because the weight savings are a joke.

if you are gonna paint it go with FRP hood, they are cheaper than carbon fiber. Heres a site that lists a similar hood to the one pictured above.

****on a side note that CF MS kit looks nice!

Ive always been a fan of the PARTIAL painted CF hood look. Paint certain parts of the hood and leave some CF, that's been on my desired mod list for a couple years now, I should get on that .

call me ignorant...isn't there a worry of debris/dirt/water (rain) getting through the vents? Or is a mod like this for dry driving only?

there's screens in those vents to keep out most of the debris.
Also, the hoods have a 'rain tract' on the inside that diverts the water should it be raining.

Even though I have a CF lip, I'm not big into the look. I just did not want to deal with painting. If it were a bigger piece like a hood or trunk then it would be painted with some CF showing through.

SOME hoods do. the hood in those pics does not have the rain diverters. you can see straight through it.

genuine hoods from japan do have this though. but im sure a bodyshop (or you) could ghetto-fab something up to accomplish this.

From what you can tell, does this have the rain diverter?

Really looking at this since I don't want CF and this looks like a good alternative

nope you can see straight through. i took my rain diverters off. you really dont get enough water in to worry about. just dont go blasting a hose directly into the vents and you'll be fine.

I would paint a CF Hood. It looks cleaner and plus you dont want your car to look like a Ricer Honda
