Body kit materials

What are body lots made of other than fiberglass? I dont want a fiberglass kit as they will be too brittle.

The accolade kit is like a black rubber composite? Fexible?

Is carbon fiber stiff or flexible?

If you get a good quality kit, the fiberglass will not be brittle..
But there is poly-urethane, FRP, and ABS plastic... there may be more, but that is what I can think of off the top of my head.

Carbon Fiber is stiff... and expensive... It may have some flex in it, but to my knowledge.. very very very little.

I did body work MANY years ago and worked on vettes. The fiberglass was brittle stiff and a simple bump from another car would crack it.

It all depends on the manufacturer. Fitment is also an issue you have to take notice. you can have polyurethane and ABS and still dont fit properly.

there is also Metton. afaik Mazdaspeed is the only thing that uses this material unfortunately. It is fairly light, extremely durable/flexible and apparently whe its molded properly doesnt warp so fitment is spot on

OP - Fiberglass is also what most boats are made out of. It is very durable.

you will be surprised that ALOT of the higher end JDM kits are FRP, i have only seen a few that are Urethane.

I have FRP kit and i do not have any negative to say (knock on wood)
