Agree with deed. You don't wanna skimp on stuff like that lest you want issues with fit / color / and general quality.

I'd love to hear from someone who actually bought one of these kits, because you know someone out there has.

actually, ive been thinking that getting one of those isnt such a bad idea for these reasons.

i really like the white concept RX-8 made by http://www.aria-group.com/pages/caseB.6.html

i would buy that bumper and cut/mold it until i get the desired look...and since i know a russian guy here in teh bay area who only repairs and paints cars...hes retardedly cheap.

also, i talked to a chinese company who makes fiberglass molds, they said that if i sent them a sample, they can make it for roughly $80 USD for the entire kit, front/side/rear. i have the email, i was really surprised when the lady said 80 dollars, but hey its nothing to them i guess

this leads my to beleive that making a custom body kit really would be that hard if someone is a skilled craftsman, like wood or something. im not a skilled craftsman, but i have time, and a few hundred bucks isnt gonna kill me for a custom one off.

lets have an educated discussion about this, i think its pretty intersting. i think the major expenses would come out of shipping costs, and fitment/painting. but labor is cheaper in other countries, hence i would go to the russian guy. btw, he got me an oem bumper already painted my color for $100. so i can trust him.

Here is a thread about how a $299 Ebay MS kit turned into a $1,430 project.
