yeah i know. my other option is getting a CF trunk and get the Vertex lip spoiler i'm getting painted WB and also get the back of the trunk WB. that way the top would be CF to match my hood but the back would be de-badged.

Hey to apply the tint to the tail lights did you have to take them off the car?

That looks good close up, you have any other pics that are a bit farther back so we can get the whole look.

Too dark for my taste, that's how I had mine, but I have all LED so it seemed a waste of money.
Did mine with Rust-o Lens tint, for the bottom light tint, and black spray paint for the eyelid, then like 4 coats of clear. I think they turned out well.

Open the pics cause I didn't feel like resizing them.

This is EXACTLY what I would do if I ever wanted to darken up my tail lights. Is this possible with film/overlays?

Does your turn signal shine bright enough? Looks great, especially on VR. Not sure how it would look on my WWP, but I'm thinking about it.

I don't think film would work so good. I have about 4 coats of clear on there.
D. Nasty I like your style, like that race rx-8, looks good.
Mine are dark enough where I had to switch to led's, they are bright enough.

It's not matte anymore. I have wet sanded and waxed it, that's why I put a recent pic at the end.
I did my tails this way partly because I miss my FD and I've noticed the miatas are similar to this also. Just keeping with a Mazda theme. And I really like it, btw, my corners and inside the headlights are going to be painted VR pretty soon. I'm putting my front ambers lights behind the brake vent screen.

--The red really looks good on the white. It clashed very much with VR.

I like this set up Chad. Looks great. The only thing keeping me from going that way is that there is only one round lamp visible, that is how our lamps were made.
Had it been two round lamps per side, covering the empty space to the sides, I would definitely go this route.

I thought about painting the reflectors inside the side bulbs/signal lights black, but that would affect the light emited. I hate this chrome BS that Mazda used on our RX8s lamps. Looks ghetto. Mazda should had offered all red lenses as stock, and the ghetto chromed tail lights as accesories only.

Chad, Your lamp theme is great, actually my favorite, except for the empty space as mentioned.

Black background like this, with 2 round lamps would be excellent.

This is what I would like to do, all red. I despise the chromed tail look. That would be ok for front signal lights/indicators, not for a tail side. Is there any red colored stick on stuff?, or are there any red lenses on the market? How did you achieve this look, it is excellent!

The red is also a vinyl overlay.

yep, mine is sprayed on using the VHT Darkshades product and the red one is an overlay.
They do sell "smoke" tinted overlays and red VHT spray too.
