Badgeless or rx7 badge
 

hey guys

was thinking of taking off the badges on the front and on the trunk

im not sure whether or not i want to keep it like that or put on the old rx7 badges

what do you guys think

i thought about efini badges and decided that I did not want to be a wannabe 7 :dunno:

well the rx8 is shitty for that

rx7 gets a cool badge and we get 2 oversized m's with a circle around it

unless there is someone creative on these forums that would create a design for us so then we can be all proud to have a fancy badge

how about the number 8 with like a bird of prey flying away shooting a machine gun with one hand and some hawt chick in the other

Its mostly the FD guys that are dicks because they have the BEST CAR EVAR... Their car came with a Turbo and has more HP so that makes them better...

that would be funny id like to see that haha get a vinyl done haha


maybe a rotor with an 8 threw it make it look pretty cool something along those lines

if the 8 is going out of production the people who own one now should put a nice badge imo

Maybe if we get enough interest and a design we can get someone to produce it.

id be down i know crazy computer guys who do like amazing graphic designing could come up with something or i know theres a member on here RXeckless has some pretty nice skill he made some impressive rx8club stickers

Badgeless. Rx7 badges on there would be pretty stupid IMO.

I'm badgeless in the front. Stock badges on rear. I think the rear needs something so didnt want to remove the rear badges.

I too like a badgeless front, but to retain the RX-8 identity on the rear.

so i bought the effini badge a while back, as i was planning to debadge the rear and put the effini badge in the middle. But i havent done it yet as i am still up in the air, i feel that the rear will look better with the badge back there, but dont wanna look like a 7 wannabee.

i agree with the idea that we dont want to copy the 7s but if im not mistaken there are some members that have it on there trunks and they look pretty clean.

and id be interested in a custom rx8 emblem. i've seen some pretty cool designs by other members on here that would look sweet.

I think its mainly because theres two forums... RX8club & 7club... It leads people to believe that were two different groups. Which then starts making people think whos better or not. If It was all one forum I bet feelings would be alot different.

Yeah but the 8 motor is still new... now people are starting to make power. Plus the 8 handles like no other.. I have friends with stock Rx8's keeping up with 400+hp rx7

^ it was for "5 borough rotary". A design he came up with for the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens, manhattan, Staten Island.

I designed one awhile back and put a few threads up on it.. It came out ok. Eventually I went with efini badges. To each his own. I look at it as a tribute to rx7s, and the wankel engine in general. It's not like switching badges on a Honda in my opinion... The rotary engine is unique as a whole and has only been used in a VERY limited run on cars, so why not have an emblem that incorperates the rotary shape, and traces back to a special line of enfini rotary cars from the past. Truth is, 99% of the people who see it have no idea what it means, and will see it as a rotary emblem. I've had mine for a year or so now, and I've had three 7 owners say they love it on there and nobody ever bust my balls about it

just know what efini stands for and have a good story why you put in on there..:)

Efini was just a company name Mazda came up with when then attempted to split out into multiple brands. IMO putting on the Efini badge would be the same as a 370 owner putting on an Infiniti badge. Would you laugh at a Civic with an Acura badge?

so if people are not feeling the efini badge then would this be an option

im not sure how it would look as an emblem but i think its a pretty cool design, of course we would have to get gh8st to approve! lol

so would anyone be willing to get together and start creating a custom badge and perhaps , spreading the word id be down to spend the money to get it going if people are serious

I think that the efini badge is extremely nice and would love to put it on my 8. Never knew what it meant but now that I see the history and what all it is linked to I see no shame in switching badges. Anyone selling one??

Ahhh yes.. I couldnt find that one... It is a great Idea... Im sure he wouldnt mind. But what would replace the 5???? maybe PM him and he could whip something up.

Here's one I had designed for about 60 bucks... I tried this idea for a few months, and believe me it's expensive.. Which doesn't match the interest for new emblems around here. For a good emblem you need a shop to custom Cnc machine them, so be prepared to spend 100 dollars or more each for one to be laid out then cut with a machine. You might have better luck, but after trying several companies and getting outragous quotes I gave up. This was the cheapest version from aluminum material for around 60 each.

I don't see the connection.. Civic with an Acura badge? Efini was a offshoot of Mazda, starting with the 1991 rx-7. If you mention efini and someone knows what it is, they automatically refer to the upgraded version (special edition) of early 7's.. Produced with spoilers, effects, turbo, etc in the Japanese market.

"Although Efini was used to describe the third generation RX-7 in its entirety, I use it to describe the "after-American" production of the RX-7.* Once production stopped in the USA the car was made only in its hometown of Japan.* The car was right hand drive as are most cars in Japan.* It had a performance and styling upgrade known as 99 Spec to the Americans."

granted, the efini badge went on a few other models in the European market down the road, most are unheard of cars. Everyone uses that excuse, I don't get it though. Efini began basically with rotary equipped, special edition rx-7's... In the Japanese market.... Hense the rotary shaped emblem. Maybe it's a stretch a little, but definitely not like a 370z with an Infiniti badge.. More like a 370z with a 350z badge giving tribute to it's baby brother in a sense.

instead of metal.. cant it be plastic??? then sprayed metallic??? Cause not all emblems are made of metal anyway... a lot are colored plastic... that might be a cheaper route??

Yea it's just getting it 3d that's a killer... Flat emblems like my old one above just don't look right. Maybe if you can make a mold then pour in plastic.. That would probably be doable with some knowledge or with a good company
