Automatic License Plate Changer??

http://acidcow.com/video/18018-licen...e_changer.html

if that link doesn't work - also here

http://www.snotr.com/video/6964/License_Plate_Gadget

I saw a thread here where someone installed one on their 8 but they wouldn't go into detail at all.
I can't find it anywhere else on this forum and my google searches have ended with video results only.

Supposedly it only requires 3 screws and 2 wires to the battery and you have a remote control inside the cabin to control it.

Anyone know where i can buy one??

While we're on the subject...Is there something similar to this for the rear too? but it would probably be a custom flip mechanism...

I've seen it before. I have not ran a front plate ever and I have never been hassled about it really.

I live in virginia and its required, i hate having a license plate on my bumper, when i got my new bumper i drove around for about 2 weeks before i got pulled over and given a warning, so i put one on there but it really degrades the look of the bumper.

Hell yes lol. I was driving down the strip in va beach and i got pulled over by a bike cop >.< because my exhaust was loud, total crap. The person in front of me was going like 2mph so i couldn't just gun it and be like "oh im sorry i didn't see you, what do you mean you couldn't keep up? (; "

Yeah the strip was a pain, they would hassle us for cruising. Is it still the same now? I lived there back in 1996. I used to go to the beach to look for prey in my Z28 and my buddies 93' GSX Eclipse.

haha yeah it's the same, they camp every corner on the strip and will get you for anything (music/exhaust/lightout/anything) and the cars go super slow on the strip still so its like easy pickings for bike cops. And all the parking lots on the strip still have tuners standing outside their cars eyeballing you as you drive by lol

If you are trying to minimize your LIDAR presence, that won't help much. They just aim at the headlights and get a return real quick. I ultimatley bought one of these: http://www.radarbusters.com/laser-ja...ceptordual.cfm and it works great. I have a buddy a couple towns over that is a city LEO. We did a couple tests and he couldn't get my speed until I was about 75 yeards away and then it was tough. He did get a return 1 time as he tried my rear view mirror but couldn't do it again. In all cases, I was more than able to see him and slow down if it was a real speed targeting. I don't know if they are legal in VA. They are not regulated the same way as detectors are though.

I live in North Texas and have not had a front plate for about 18 years. Never once have been talked to about it in the many stops I've had.

The problem I have here in the DFW area is they are on overpasses and get you in the tail as you go under the overpass.

haha not really, i want it mostly for shows and pictures and such, it becomes a pain to remove and put the plate back every weekend, or perhaps i can just leave it collapsed all the time and if i get pulled over flip it back out and when he tries to write me a ticket ill be like what officer? my plate is right there ;O lol

Front license plate is not required in the State of Nevada. I bought both of my cars here in Las Vegas, and both of them don't even have holes in it. So, why bother putting a license plate when there's no holes in it. Plus, front license plate looks ugly anyway.

Yes, I have that license plate holder in my 8 (it doesn't work anymore) and you are correct, only a few screws and two wires to the battery and you are all set. It comes with two remotes and you can buy it on Amazon and a couple other places if you google the name. It is called the Show and Go license plate holder by Altec Products:

Here is the Amazon link:

Wow, thanks a lot for the help. But now that im thinking about it my car is pretty low, and i scrape a lot on inclines to places unless i notice it before hand and go slow and at an angle. So i'm just worried instead of my hardened bumper scraping it would scrap this...but im going to see if i can somehow work it into my bumper...somehow...

No problem and yes I have scraped it as well but the holder is pretty solid. The only problem I had was that after going through a few car washes, the thing stopped working...
