Anyone have Tein hood dampers?

I would like to....I ordered them oh maybe 6 months ago...they were shown on a web site...also on the Tein site they wrote back saying they didn't have them, didn't know when they would, but would ship when available (they've got my CC, etc). Aside from the awful color, they were relatively cheap compared to others....but unfortunately also absolutely non-existent too!
Still waiting. Maybe you've seen them in person somewhere?

I don't have the Tein hood struts, but I did canibalize my friends struts off his Mitsu Diamante. I havn't installed them yet, but I'll post a DIY when I do. You should be able to find them really cheap in a junkyard.
They won't be cool and green, but you could always paint them and put a tein sticker on the side :D

The European Mazda OEM 'bonnet dampers' are available from several outlets. However, I read in another thread on this forum that these struts may damage the aluminum hood. The tension present in the bonnet dampers may cause the hood to buckle at the mounting point. However, I have not confirmed this to be the case. I would hate for my car to be the guinea pig, but it may have to be....

I heard it rises slower than the Autoexe ones. But of course the Teins' are cheaper.

Else the FarEast forum will come to you As M-ster says, just got the Tein bonnet dampers installed yesterday and they're great. The hood rises at just the right resistance and holds beautifully. Here are a couple of pics...notice the additional bracket used at the hood.

From the set up, looks like one got to unbolt the nuts that's holding the hood, as the bracket goes under the original ones.
M gonna get myself a set too! :D

That's right, but to buy the Bronco II struts, it will cost you about $60 with shipping and all, plus you'll still have a lot to do to fabricate those brackets. That's quite a bit of work, seeing that you have to make them and paint them.
Also, you'll need 4 threaded ball joints as well.
Actually, for $113, those Tein dampers are not too bad - certainly much better than the atrocious price for the AutoExe hood struts.
So fo those who want to get rid of the prop rod and don't feel like (or have no way) to fabricate the brackets, this is the way to go.
