another s1 -> s2 question

I was wondering if an s2 spoiler can fit on the s1...I have seen both cars back to back and didn't have any measuring tool on hand so I'm curious as to if anyone made the conversion. Thanks

I remember seeing one, but I couldn't find the picture. Anyway, I think it could be done with a few minor modifications.

I read that the spoiler fitted on the series 2 was not a new design, it was a series 1 auto rear spoiler design that is fitted to the series 2... I could be wrong but I'm pretty certain thats what I read. Check JimEllisMazdaParts.com to see if the part numbers tally up. In any case it will fit the shape, but you will need to drill for bolt holes, not easy on thin metal, maybe get someone to do the drilling for you...

it actually is a little different. the s1 is more rounded from end to end while the s2 comes up a bit quicker from the ends and is more straight in the middle

Wrong! The S1 spoiler is kinda rounded like what greekunit690 said, and the S2 spoiler is kinda like my Mazda 6i spoiler.

The S2 R3 spoiler is more square, ive compared my car with a S2 side by side and you can tell the difference. IMHO i like the S1 more, but they are both **** and ugly as *****.

INGS+1 or Varis lip spoiler all the way.

Just to clarify... What I read, was that the R3 / S2 spoiler, was a design created for an S1 a/t, (auto trans). My point, was that I don't know if it went in to production for the S1 auto trans. I'm sure even semi blind people with cod eyes have noticed that the S1 round spoiler is nothing like the flat S2/R3 spoiler. The thread is asking will it fit, my point is yes it will. However, if you have a lip, and remove it, there will be holes in the bootlid or trunk that you will have to fill. In any case it will fit, but you will have to make it fit. I have checked the part number for you, and there is no mention of it being produced for the S1 a/t even if it was designed for that... 5 points to anyone who can tell me what the designers name was for the R3 / S2 spoiler and on what date he designed it and for what application?... something tells me I won't get an answer to that question.....
