'09 lip spoiler removal

Has anyone with an '09 tried to remove the rear lip spoiler? I haven't been able to find any bolts holding the thing on and it appears to just be stuck on. I'd like to remove it and put on the OEM wing style spoiler.

rgspb: why would you want to get rid of your lip spoiler? i think it accents the trunk quite well...

but if its not your cup of tea... PM me with a offer that i just can't refuse, and i may just take it off your hands

edit: ^^ just read the above post. well if he changes his mind, you have another member showing interest if u will. =)

p.s. i may have an safe and easy solution for removal shall you find out its stuck on with a strong adhesive.

try this, http://www.geocities.jp/lase3p/RX-8/...poiler_jpn.htm

Most likely the '09 has the same construction as '04-'08

This is what I was afraid of. I'd say it's safe to assume that mine is the same then. I don't hate the look of the lip spoiler, I just prefer the look of the factory wing.

Sorry, won't be selling mine. I looked inside the trunk liner today and there are holes in the trunk that the spoiler is attached to.

They look like the same spoilers the British have had for years. IIRC, they have 4 bolts evenly spaced across the spoiler (doesn't match the basket handle spoiler mounts).

I'll probably just wait till there are more out there and see of someone wants to trade a plain trunk lid.

I personally hate the look of carbon fiber on a car, in any way shape or form. It looks cheap and tacky. That's just my humble opinion though.

'04 Lip Removal

Since I have the same issue I'll post here. From the first picture I see the lip stands in 4 plastic bolts. The two from the middle are accesibile from inside the trunk (photo 2). How on earth can I reach the far left and the far right bolt ? I have a very narrow hand and I couldn't even get close !
