question about stage 2

Right now I have the borla exhaust and green filter.
I am interested in buying canzoomer stage 2 and the high flow cat. I'm new to mods so i have a few questions:

1) Where, and what type of high flow cat would i need to purchase?

2) Does the resonator have to be replaced w/ stage 2?

3) What does stage 2 actually change? Is there any chance it can damage the engine?

4) What do you think total horsepower would be w/ the following: green filter, borla exhaust, and cansoomer stage 2 w/ the high flow cat? 300hp?

whoa whoa there! 300hp??? I believe not. This isn't some Honda where adding a cat-back will unrestrick 10hp, and adding the window decal to compliment frees another 5hp. With the stage 2, green filter, high flow cat (random tech. is the brand), and borla....you MAY see 210hp at the wheels. At this point in time, about the only way you'll see close to 300hp is FI.

The resonator is nothing but 1 tube with holes in it, inside a larger tube. It doesn't need to be replaced or taken out, unless you want a lighter car by about 7lbs, or a louder exhaust.

Put in anything other than PREMIUM unleaded gas and there's a decent chance you can damage the engine. If you don't know much about air/fuel mixtures, do yourself a favor and stick with the stage 1.1 for now. Otherwise, find some nice grade 93 and get some octane booster to help. Propane couldn't hurt *shrug*

1) Stage 2 is the high flow cat/ midpipe/ resonator + CZ unit. So you buy it from Canzoomer

2) Yes

3) Replaces the stock cat (and resonator /midpipe since it's all 1 piece) . The stage 2 map is not recommended for street use since the fuel maps are closer to the "edge" of what is considered safe. So, yeah , could mess up your car if you don't know what your doing.

4) Stage 2 is estimated to add 40hp. (so around 210hp to the wheels as weepul said)

I was joking about the 300hp, so no one is using the stage 2 on the street. hmm, well I guess I'll give stage 1 a shot. Would is be worth the money to get the resonator and high flow cat with the stage 1?

You're freeing up a little hp no matter which way you go (freeing restriction is more like what's happening). No cat will be less restriction than a high-flow, but then again that's not street legal. Can you drive it on the street? Of course, but it's on you if it gets you caught. A resonator shouldn't impact restriction really, only loudness of the exhaust. It will be somewhat quieter with one still intact. I'd like to eventually get the stage 1.1 with cat, midpipe with resonator, and greddy spII.

You can get the stage 2 by any means, but you should know a thing or two about the air/fuel mixture of the engine first. It's highly recommended you have a wideband and/or EGT guages if you go that route. Because of the leaner air mixture, you'll gain about 10hp with stage 2 over stage 1.1.

Stage 2 isn't recommended for street because if you foul the gas in any sort of way and the engine doesn't get the rich octane that it needs, time for a rebuild. Also if it's just a track car, it doesn't necessarily always meet the engine temps that a daily driver will, just from frequency of use. This is debatable though.

Thanks alot for your responses Now, I know adding the exhaust didn't effect my warranty. I even spoke w/ my local dealership and they confirmed it for me. Do you think adding the resonator/highflow cat would effect the warranty? I don't see why it would.

None of these stages effect anything under 5000 rpm. Driving it for street use or the track, you shouldn't have a problem with the temps. If you drive around all day, at 6000 rpm and above. I can see heat being a factor.

If you wanted to for added protection you could easily install a water injection to help fight the possible detination of the stage 2 ecu. It could be set to come on at a specific rpm.

Edit: I just realized that you are new to mods. This could get to technical. :D

i could just imagine all that rust the motor would get from a water injection over the years :D seriously i know the wrx and the evo come with that option of a water spray intercooler system but thats just to lower the turbo intercooler radiator down it not ment for any other thing that i know off,i dont think it would help us at all

LOL, I don't know the dynamics of WI on a rotary, but for a piston engine there's not enough to rust the engine It basically steam cleans the combustion chamber and lowers the chamber's temp....at least enough to retard det. It also has the effect to cool intake charge, but not as much from what I hear. The water would be vaporized with the combustion and forced out the exhaust port with the gases to my knowledge....nothing left behind to rust =)
