Ignition coils?

I have noticed a few recent changes in my vehicle's performance:
- starting from a stop in 1st there is significant hesitation (clutch out, pedal to the floor, car does not want to go for first 2 seconds). After this slight delay it feels good and gets after it.
- although I could easily start from a stop in 2nd before install, it now feels like I will definitely stall now.

On the upside, no rough idle problems here. Car is M flash.

I have one of the original CZ units and every time I remove/reinstall it I notice poor performance for the first 3 or 4 drives. After talking with Maurice we have attributed this behavior to the ECU learning the limits of the sensors (throttle position, barometric pressure, temperature, etc...). If the engine doesn't run stronger in a couple of days I would remove the unit and call Maurice for advice as the fuel/ignition maps will probably need to be tweaked so that it will work properly with your car.

To recap answers so far:

Speed Racer - Yes
BRx8 - Sky is falling

Got it. I will give it a few days to see if situation changes, if not will either send back to CZ for retune or just buy the programming kit myself. BTW BRx8, no problem below 4K, only symptom is hesitation when starting from stop in 1st gear (<<2000 rpm).

Turned out to be a crack in the post electrode on one of my plugs ... not a coil issue for me at all! Wondering now if I should test the CZ with the new plug or send it in for the "coil fix".... any suggestions?

i'd send it in, or try and do it yourself...made a world of difference for me

although, it opened the door for other problems... check the other active stage 1 thread

guess I am a lucky one. I have never had a problem with my unit. No idle problem, no hesitation problem(other than a very, very SLIGHT hesitation at approx 7k), no burnt coil problem etc. Unit has had obvious benifital affect from the get go. I do run with my dsc OFF most of the time.(i wonder if that has any affect). I can even take my air filter out and run it for 10 miles or so and it doesn't even seem to affect the car. I did that ONLY as a test! It did idle a little faster. I wonder why my car is so differant. Thank God it is! Oh I bought my unit from Adrian back in April/May I believe. I have M flash.

:sigh:

must be nice...

in the mean time, get us some MAF voltages so we can see what the car needs to have to be in the sweet spot

Epitrochoid,
I dont have the tool to do it with. Anyone around Macon/Atlanta Ga that has this ability is welcome to contact me and I would be glad to provide that. Heck I'm curious myself. AND this is a real good thing you are putting together. Like many say on this forum, this engines potentional at present will be through tuning. (maybe porting when some warrenties run out!)
I still believe that FI (for the everyday driver) is still a little ways off.
