importing/exporting maps ???

How do you get the unit to communicate??

I plug the cable into the CZ and into my laptop and I get a pop up that says new hardware detected. I hit cancel because I have to software for the cable right? Then I start the greddy program. I didn't get the usual message that says you need to work offline so I thought I was good with the communication. I hit import map and a "corresponding window" pops up and it just sits there... nothing happens. What am I missing here???

The ignition needs to be turned to the ON position but car not running right?

Does a certain end of the cable need to be at the unit?

Does it matter if the CZ unit is on or off?

ignition needs to be on, you can even do it while the car is running.

you plug the cable into the cz, the other end into your laptop, wait for windows to install, then load up e-manage software. if it can't connect, it will say so, otherwise it will say nothing. Select import map from unit. then use the pull down to select the ignition map. make your changes, then export map back to the cz unit.

i have details at http://tyrannical.org/page-15

on the bright side it looks like the stock map is working fairly well with a/f ratios between 13.2 and 13.7... it seems to have a bit of a rough idle probably cause by the ignition advance which i'll tune out tomorrow.

on the brightest side, if my calculations are correct I picked up about 25rwhp... yipee!!!

Dang Jason. On that last graph it looks like you have your car dialed in so good!!!

Hows it running? it looks like you keep 12.8 to 13.2 or there abouts almost all the time at WOT.. thats crazy.. you did a great job tuning the car....

Another question... Before you started all this what was the stock AFR for you? Do you find in your research of this topic that the stock AFR varies widely?

Thankx!

davefzr, check out http://tyrannical.org/cz

The first graph is stock, second is with the stock cz map. You can see why it still needed tweaking.

The last graph is what I have now, but if you look at the third one from the bottom, that one really gives me a lot more power. I can really feel it in that map, but I couldn't get it straightened out, so for now I'm sticking with the smoother map. Too much hassle to keep tweaking it.

I definately feel the power increase, which I never felt from any prior modification (borla cat back, green air filter, etc).

oh, btw, i didn't do a good job at tweaking it, I used the cz stage 2 map, and made two AFR adjustments to get to where it is right now. Look at the "share your cz maps" thread if you want to download it.

ok, need a bit of clarification here...

When I plug the USB cable it XP automatically detects new hardware and wants to install something so it brings up the wizard and asks for where the software is at to load. If loaded the Greddy software last week, do I still need to load something at this step?

How long does it take to establish communication and load a map?

when it loads a map, it will show a progress indicator.

the greddy software cd came with a folder for the drivers needed to use the cable. You may want to install that if you haven't already.
