Hi Maurice....It is good to see you back here with us. I have few questions if you have time

1- RX-8 said few things about how bad the car idle with M flash. Any reason why this is happening?
2- Regarding the latest map you are working on, what kind of gain do we expect to see with this new map.
3- I have been running few G-tech runs with stae 1, and L-flash, and I am seeing my self shaving some time, but I am puzzled with hp power runs. It is reporting lower horsepower , yet the times says other wise as I am almost shaving 1 sec off 1/4 miles. The peak hp also is showing between 7200-7700 RPM, vs 8600 RPM before. Very puzzled. It will nice to see any data you have with stage 1 and L-flash

Again it is good to have you back here tonight. Talk to you soon

Mark

Seems like improvements on stage 1 are still an almost daily thing and will be for some time. It seems almost pointless to ask, but I'm gonna anyway...

Will all 10 group buy #1 units be up-to-date with the latest release?

Thanks, you can flame me if you wish [flame suit - on].

Some of the units were the last of the previous batch. They have been modified to the new circuit function, but have the external switch. Some have the internal switch. I think the first ones went out before the latest map got finished. The ones with the internal switch will have the latest map Maurice talked about.

As Maurice said, the girls ship them as soon as I've tested them. They feel your pressure more than Maurice and I, I guess.

I am not sure. The funny part is that it is not all the time. Sometimes it idles fine, sometimes not, and it has nothing to do with the Stage1 unit, as i had it out for a couple of days, doing baseline runs after i got M flash, and it did it then.

2- Regarding the latest map you are working on, what kind of gain do we expect to see with this new map.
Well, so far I can say that M is a bit easier to deal with than L.
Ultimately the maximum achievable power will always be about the same, but it is less finicky to tune on M.
One nice thing with M is that it is noticeably stronger in the lower rpm range. But it sucks at the top end.

For example, it buys you enough grunt down low that one can run a quarter and get to the end while still in 3rd gear. You get a decent ET, but a horrible trap speed, stock.
So building on that I am getting results that i am quite happy with.
I also notice it is a bit more friendly on flooding. My car is one that is particularly prone to flooding, and I have not had any incidents since getting M. Kind of refreshing.

3- I have been running few G-tech runs with Stage 1, and L-flash, and I am seeing my self shaving some time, but I am puzzled with hp power runs. L is kind of weird to work with. I suggest you get M as it is a lot more predictable. As for the power, remember peak power is one thing, but increasing power across the band does more for you in real life. A high narrow power band is less useful in the 1/4 than steady power across the range.
What is your time and trap speed?

Again it is good to have you back here tonight. Talk to you soon

That is just weird.

You should take them the TSB:
http://www.finishlineperformance.com...1-04-1273d.pdf

And highlight on the front page, where it says:
"..Because of this revision, ALL vehicles with pervious calibrations should be updated to at least teh "M" calibrationlevel. This includes vehicles coming to the dealer for repairs unrelated to the no start concern, or normal scheduled maintenance."

Simply put, if the dealer will not do it, call Mazda PR department and bitch (politely).

You can run with K, but I suggest M is better.

Pity yer not in Miami cause here it hasnt been an issue. But as Maurice said, call Mazda and bitch about the dealer. They will arrange for you to get it done pronto.

Or flood the car on purpose and get them to do it then :D (I'd recomend the phone bitching first though)

Maurice,
It's great to hear from you again. We missed your expertise on these boards over the last few months. I do have one two part question for you though if you have the time.

I purchased the CZ "1.1" from you back in January, and received it last month. 1) With the new improvements you've been making on the CZ map is it worth it to upgrade to the newest version of your map? 2) If it is a noticably better map, are you offering this update to anyone that purchases the update sortware and cable?

If you are making improvements I'd be more than willing to buy the software and cable from you. Thanks in advance for your answer.

fedex called today to take care of some customs paperwork with me, so I assume I'll have a tracking number from them soon.

If you buy the cable and software you get the maps when they come out. So far no charge. Ask if they will include it on a disk when you order the cable/software. The newest map is really for the "M" flash, and we recommend you get it. It makes the car more better.

BTW, the cable is rather special. Don't try using a standard USB cable, because the unit actually has a serial port with a USB connector (wired differently - just to throw in more curves). A standard USB cable would likely burn out your computer USB port. We can supply either type of cable connection to your computer - for an RS232 DB9 or a USB port. The USB is most popular as the RS232 is "legacy hardware" (thanks Microsoft for the term).

That would be funny if epitrochoid takes forever to send the units out.

I don't think so. Florida is only 16 hours away in the 8 and I'm already pissed about Tampa beating the Flyers. :D

lol. guy's, if youre not gettin my emails let me know, some of them are getting kicked back to me.

but I only got 5 of the units yesterday, and the fist GB will go out once I have 10. since I dont have record of who paid in what order, that's the only fair way to do it.

We'll be shipping another bunch on Tuesday to finish the first group buy, I think (Monday's a holiday here). Just finished assembling them and will test Tuesday morning. They will all be the internal switch type, and I think Maurice has just fine tuned the latest map - but "M" flash is strongly recommended for it.

He's working on taking out the power loss up above 6-7K RPM. Mazda went hugely rich right there. I mean hugely. Maurice removed 40% of the fuel and was still running 12 to 1 A/F. Best power is around 13.5-14. He's almost finished further tweeking of the map we are currently putting on the units (0MAY18-MFLASH).

Epitrochoid, we've got to get you flashed to "M" somehow! Have you tried phoning Mazda to get them to tell the dealer they will pay to have it done? I just don't understand why the dealer will not do it.
