Red face Help Needed with E-manage Stuff

Here is the stuation:
1 my turbo kit is installed on the car.
2.all the harnesses are connected.
3.I switch on the ignition and the e-manage shows a solid green light on the Active led,and a solid orange light on the Interaction led.Only thing connected is the main harness and the pressure sensor harness.
4.I install my E-01,and use just one pressure sensor ,installing the E-01 to e-manage pressre harness.
5.Turn the ignition on,E-01 shows atmospheric pressure,e-manage main unit leds remain the same.
6.I start the car(still on jack stands),engine fires first time and runs perfectly.up to 4000rpm(as far as I try it),and idles perfectly.E-01 shows very good vacuum etc.
7.I take out my laptop, with Greddy Support Tool,V1.20/1.40,connect up my USBtoRS232 adapter, then the USB side of the adapter to the e-mange.I switch on the ignition and wait for the Tool to recognise the e-manage unit and it does not. There is no change in leds on e-manage.I have tried to clear the map through the Security function as suggested on another post,I cannot because I do not get that Clear Map option.
8.I try another USB/RS232 adapter,same result.
9.My e-manage is serial no 26345,i.e a late 3 dongle version. All Parts were purchased new.

My questions are:
1.Is my e-manage unit normal?I undertood that the Active led was supposed to flash green when ignition is on,and that the Interaction led should only be on when the PC is connected.
2.What can be done to get the original map out and a new in.

The laptop just isn't connecting to the emanage. Maybe your laptop's RS232 port isn't working.

Try reinstalling the support tool on a different machine - one where you can use the USB port directly without trying to use the RS232 converter.

If you have winXp on your laptop you need specific drivers to communicate by USB to the e-manage. Also make sure you have specified the correct port-number (on the laptop and in the support tool). Some USB-ports may not have a signal that´s strong enough, I remember myself struggeling with this.
