D.I.Y. Datalog / Graph your AP with EFI Dude/Scanalyser
**Note I do NOT have a Scanalyser, but I do have an EFI Dude, from what I've read they both output CSV files I assume in a similar manner so these instructions should apply**I'm going to make a post from the start:
**Scanalyser users PLEASE download latest beta software here: http://www.performancedesign.com.au/...0.3%20Beta.zip **
With the beta software you can go to tools --> options of this software you can change the output to what the EFIdude has for csv files (table format) instead of one item per line
This is using Excel 2003 on DEFAULT everything.
1) Plug EFIdude datalogger into OBD 2 Port
2) Datalog using the EFIdude datalogger: 45 seconds in 4th gear at 4200rpm this is ~62mph or 100kph. Do a WOT run in 2nd and if possible 3rd gear from 2000 rpm - fuel cut (bounce off it for a second) if you can do multiple runs
*datalogging complete*
3) Come home open up RX8 ProLogger
4) Plug EFIdude datalogger into USB port
5) Wait for it to compile the data
6) in EFIdude software go to file --> export --> CSV file name it whatever you want just remember where you saved it (I name mine RX8-Datalog-raw)
**DO NOT CLOSE OFF THE EFIDUDE SOFTWARE**
*exporting file complete*
7) Open up file in excel
8) Open up a second instance of excel (for copy and paste purposes and to make it tidy)
**FOR EFIDUDE/SCANALYSER BETA SOFTWARE USERS**
9) Using the EFIdude software locate the times for start and end of the data parts you want (using the bottom scroll bar and checking off the values you want to see on the right)
10) Search for information in the csv file you exported (with the time) and then copy and paste into your new instance of excel.
**FOR NON-BETA SCANALYSER SOFTWARE USERS**
So The Scanalyser lists things VERY differently, I don't have the software but I've seen the lists, what you need to do is SELECT everything you want, go to Data --> PivotTable and PivotChart report. Data is located in Microsoft office Excel list or database, and you want to create a PivotTable, hit next.
Range select EVERYTHING you want including the Time, Type, and Value at the very top (Time is in ms not in sec) hit next
Put it into a new worksheet, hit options, uncheck, Grand Totals for Columns and Grand totals for rows. Click OK, and Click Finish
Drag Time into Row Field, Type into Column field, and Value into Data items.
Awesome now you have a table that EFIdude sorta spits out and makes it easier to do a graph, copy paste this into a NEW excel spreadsheet (so it's an excel spreadsheet and not some pivot table), name it, follow the rest of the steps.
**FOR ALL**
to further organize everything what I've done is copy and paste the first line of the CSV file where it says time, load, engine temp, long term etc and use it as a divider to separate all the information (making it easier to read) and label all the information (IE 2nd gear WOT run 1, 2nd gear WOT run 2, 2nd gear WOT run 3, Cruise @ 4200 rpm, 3rd gear WOT run etc)
Save the file as something like your initials-rx8-datalog.
You can close off the csv file and efidude if you want.
*Table making complete*
Time to graph
For every WOT run I submit 3 graphs AFR vs RPM, MAF vs RPM, and Load vs RPM (while labelling every graph to the information in the table, ie WOT 2nd gear Run 1 AFR vs RPM, etc etc)
For the Cruise one I submit 4 graphs RPM vs Time, AFR vs Time, Load vs Time and MAF vs time.
So how do we organize the graphs? Well I put them into new worksheets (and label the worksheets on what they contain ie 2nd gear WOT runs etc). Worksheets is NOT a new file, it’s just those tabs on the bottom, you can make as many of those as you want (right click, insert, worksheet) it’ll be part of the same excel spreadsheet file.
Alright…lets get to making the graphs.
11) Go to the top --> Insert --> chart --> X-Y Scatter (with data points joined by lines) (or you can hit the chart button at the top if you have it)
12) Hit next, ignore data range tab, hit the series tab. You might have a whole bunch of series, delete them all now.
13) Name well that’s the name of the chart
14) X value is what will be on the bottom (either RPM or Time depending on the graph) click on the icon beside it and you will be able to select the range of cells that you want to use for that data value
15) Y Value will be what will be on the left of the chart (Load, AFR, MAF etc)
16) hit Next
17) Label everything, remove the legend
18) Next
19) Place as object in (which worksheet you want it to be in)
Save everything, email this file, plus your ap calibration file to jeff with all requested info and all will be happy =)
Since I can't post example files I gotta take screen shots.

I have vista and it works with the efidude data logger. if worse comes to worse email the files to your self (from your old PC) and then downnload them to your laptop =D or use a USB flash drive.

great thread... knew kind of how to do it, but your way is much more simple. I sent jeff my first email late one night (well, early in the morning) before going to sleep and completely didnt even think about the fact that the efidude screenshots dont have any way of figuring out what the numbers are... it's just the graphed lines with absolutely no point of reference. When I finally realized it, I felt retarded lol. I know jeff's busy and hate to add to that by needing to resend

You do 3 graphs afr vs rpm, load vs rpm and maf vs rpm.
Where it says time ot graph and re-read step 17 on ward check attachments for examples.

Good info guys. I'm sure this will help a lot of folks.
Not surprisingly though, already people NOT following directions, just like the COBB AP thread. (Same people in fact)
The advantage of the excel option is that you can create a Macro.
Then people just need to import their cvs file, and run the macro for the rest.

I'm 95% of the way done for an automated program for the AccessTuner Race datalogging... I need someone to tell me exactly what the Vehicle Speed column header name is though
(can't do that right now as I don't have the AP on my car because of dealer stuff...)
Its probably adaptable to the EFIdude stuff if someone can post up their csv output...

Really odd. It's as if Hymee is blocking my home address. I get a firewall error (an actual http redirect) when I try to get to them from home, but I can get to their site just fine from other places like work.
Thanks Hymee
Thanks Hymee

holy cr@p! The 2.0 beta of sCANalyser is 1000 times better than the 1.0 and 1.1 versions that I previously only had access to.
I wish Hymee could solve that firewall issue. I've owned their (rather pricey) product for some time now and had been really disappointed with the performance up to this point.
Sorry to go OT.

I'd mirror it since I can get to it from work but am hesitant to do so without permission and Hymee (now for obvious reasons) does not respond to email originating from my smtp (mail) server.
