CZ vs. AFC

Ok Mr. Zoomer...I am a potential buyer, her is your chance to sell me. Here's your motivation =P

Your base model Canzoomer 1.0 or 1.1 product, vs. the A-PEXi SAFCII.

1) The safc I can get for about $300. You sell the CZ 1.1 for about $500 (less in a GB).

2) With the CZ, I'm stuck with either a 14.6 or 13.2 AFR. With the safc, I can simply get it tuned via dyno or wideband for my own *adjustable* fuel map.

3) CZ offers a simple, no modification needed, install. Uninstallation takes only minutes as well. The safc must be hardwired in.

To me it seems the only advantage your product has over the safc is in #3, as it is not a permanent mod and is filed under the term "bolt-on" with ease. Forgive me if I come across rash with these questions, but I'd like to make every penny invested in my 8 worthwhile. Why buy a CZ 1.1 instead of the safcII?

The SAFC is very limited in it's control. Yes it can give you an imrovement but not near as much. Even if you tuned the SAFC to its full potential it still lacks the refinement of even Canzoomer's base upgrade map. Canzoomer also will have the ability later on to upgrade and program it yourself from a laptop computer. There are many more tuning points than the SAFC. While the SAFC is only around half the price of Canzoomer's stage 1 unit, it has less than half of the tunability of the Canzoomer unit. This isn't very cost effective. Canzoomer has also done the hard work for you by giving you a very nice power increase already tuned in. With the SAFC you will be going through much trial and error and then probably end in frustration when you realize that the factory ecu may in fact do different things depending on which gear you are in. Canzoomer has found this to be true but one other on here thinks otherwise. Either way the SAFC will give you no form of datalogging to verify these potential issues should they arrise.

The SAFC is a piece of equipment that is years behind the times. It is a wonder it still sells so well with so many other viable alternatives on the market. You spent alot of money purchasing the car. The difference in aftermarket tuning options is going to be determined over a measely $200-$300??? Spend the pocket change and do it the way that will give the most power and ease of installation and tunability for the money. Don't just base your decision on what is cheapest. In the long run many cheap mods add up to be a bigger mod that isn't as big as the other guys. It may not have cost as much but to catch them you'll have to spend even more money ultimately eclipsing their investment. Do it right.

Cool, thanks for the reply....this car is a step up for me coming from a honda, to a dsm, and now to rotary. If spending the money to get a worthwhile product is what's necessary, then the car's worth it anyway.

BTW, what happens if you buy a CZ 1, then a few months later there's a newer version (1.1?)? Do you wind up with the short end of the stick?

There is a 1.1 already for people with the newer Mazda ecu flashes. People just send them back and he loads the new map for them. This is a small inconvenience at this time but the car still runs without it just like it did from the factory. Later on with the stage 2 upgrade, he will be able to provide the maps so that the users will be able to load it themselves. The stage 2 upgrade when available will be a little more costly but the overall package is very nice with practically unlimited tuning potential.

Actually, with the new version, you can buy a cable to upgrade the maps when new PCM's come out. You can also upgrade to stage 2 maps. You can also currently fully program your own maps if you get a wideband o2 sensor and the programming kit through canzoomer. In the near future you will be able to select multiple maps on the fly.
