DIY: Start Button, Front & Centre!
(The following DIY may contain -
Rice and/or Bling.
If you are allergic, do not read further!)
I have too much free time!
Moved my HONDA (gasp!) start button up to the centre console.
It takes its power and ground from the lighter socket, and the yellow output wire goes to the clutch pedal switch, to start the car.
S
UPDATE! UPDATE!
Dealextreme.com has similar buttons $10, free shipping!
Even the wires and connectors are simpler!
My flabber is now officially gasted!

Convenience...
Just moved it to regain the use of my lighter plug.
When I was installing my XM radio, I saw there was loads of room behind that plate. The start button is about four inches deep.

Xm......
No, the XM unit is in the trunk, screwed to the back of the seat, very compact. That display is just the little control unit, on a wire from the back.
Just stuck in place with velcro, the ashtray is still in place, and the cover still opens! :D

Doh!!!
A forum member emailed saying he wanted a start button, but couldn't find any with the three wires on. (thanks dustinmallen )
I forgot it came 'naked' - I had to put the wires to the right terminals....
as you look at the back socket with the lettering upright -
left to right -
first terminal - unused.
second - ground.
third - 12volt accessory power.
fourth - out to clutch switch.
sorry about that. :o

I don't see why it would be so hard to rig the JDM Start button to fit in the dash as well. Anyone try this?
I know it was meant to fit in the RHD car's ash-tray, but that doesn't mean we have to put it there.
Suggestions?

Jdm....
No, the JDM would fit and is always an option.
It comes with a new 'coin tray panel' and a fancy wiring harness that are pretty useless in the US cars, so you end up with just a $300 button.....(it IS a very nice button!) Too much for the cheapass 'ricer' in me! :p

Jdm......
The Mazda harness has connectors to just snap in place, power, ground, light power and output. Our US spec cars have no 'females' to plug into, so you are back to wiring it yourself.
Then you are paying for the cointray mount that doesn't fit, so you end up paying about $300 for just the button and the little 'rotor' surround.

Love this! planning on getting the RB gauges so the lighter plug placement is out of the question. Always wanted a starter button, but i was scared of doing it... seems like its not that hard now, so i will be doing it as soon as i get home from the sandbox!! (iraq)
