DIY: Shock Sensor Upgrade - What the instructions don't tell you
FYI - the shock sensor upgrade has you hook into two wires (blue/red and black/yellow) and cut into a third wire (brown). What they don't tell you is that there are two of each of these wires in the same area - one set easy to get to and one harder to reach. It would be nice if the wires closest were the correct wires (my first assumption) but they are not. The wires further up into the dash and harder to reach are the correct wires. If you carefully cut the tape around the wire harness, you can more easily access the wires.

One more thing. The shock sensor harness has orange, red and two black wires. The installation instructions says orange, red, brown and black. I opened the sensor to find out which black is suppose to be brown. The one in the middle should be brown.

heed this warning!
Just yesterday I installed my shock sensor kit after an attempt last weekend. I cut into the wrong wires, and believing that I had damaged the sensor unit by connecting it incorrectly, bought a second sensor. Well I saw this post and rewired the unit. If anyone is interested I now have the second unit purchased in perfect condition for sale. Just send me an email.

just finished mine, another tip is the lower wire harness plug, just pull it away from the car and it will detach from the car to give you more working room, wow it was so tight up there!

guys i own a J-Spec 8 and i havent managed to install the shock sensor correctly.
i have installed the red and black which is positive negative, i can see the indicator led on the shock sensor working but i cannot have it working with the car.
i thing that i didnt connect the orange and brown correctly.
I have tried almost all combinations. my 8 is RHD, i dont know if that has anything to do, any help?
