do NOT run alcohol over the lexan, it WILL micro crack.

best case use distilled water and let it soak in the sun for a few hours with the bulbs out of the sockets.

as to which method is best, either works fine. i'm not sure why so many people have a bug up their *** about adding a drain to a sealed lamp. even mazda used to incorporate vents into their lamp assemblies before moving on to the sealed versions which obviously still do not seal all that well.. even a leaky body seal gasket should NOT allow water into the lamp assembly if it were made properly.

 

Hey, thanks to all for the convo. I think I'll give the sealant a try before I drill a hole into my tail light -- no offense. And since I bought the car used from a private party, I don't think the warranty solution will work for me.

 

I replaced my drivers side gasket with the rotaryfx thicker one last year and just did the passenger one a few days ago because it started to get water in it. The one I did over a year ago is still going great and I have taken it off a couple times to remove the rear bumper and it is still sealed good.

I would go with their gaskets if you don't want to drill into it.

 

Hi all,
I had condensation in mine a couple of months ago, it took about a week to clear up. I was going to fix it,but it never came back. I have free car washes at the dealer near my house and go several times a week, still no problem.
I had it covered for a couple of months in the cold right before that.
I'm wondering if there's a tiny leak somewhere and if it was basically just from being cold for so long, and then exposed to the sun and warmer temperatures?

I'm not going to mess with it if it doesn't come back.
I'll repost if it does.

I have read more than a few posts regarding this problem.
I saw that someone had headlight problems from bringing it in and out of their garage.
I assume it's the same thing.

I was posting my personal experience just as an example.
Some people have problems with car washes, I don't.

As far as reading the whole thread, I'll read every post in every thread for every experience I have questions about right after I finish Moby Dick, Beowulf, and War and Peace.
