I have the OEM exhaust, and I was able to identify this squeak/rattle thing today. It turns out the muffler hanger on the left side is too tight and pulls the muffler hanger bracket up against the metal hanger that is part of the body of the car. This causes a squeak when I close the door, or go over bumps, and it makes it rattle when at low RPM. I considered putting a piece of foam in between the two metal pieces that are touching, but I am worried about anything that might be flammable being close to the muffler. I guess I should get the dealer to fix it.

I have searched as well and this seems to be the latest thread about the borla sound problem. Well I have tested it both hot and cold and found that the heat shield is not my problem. well as far as i can tell. the rattle in mine comes from just the left tip. I have been under the car while its running and the noise is for sure just the tip. I dont know what to do about that. the rattle only happens when the car is idle at 750rpms. if i raise the rpms to just above 1000 the sound goes away. is it possible to have something stuck inside the tip? i noticed the holes in the bottom of them, I even felt around in the hole with a coathanger to see if i could feel something, but got nothing. HELP! it sounds ghetto

The pictures are no longer available. Anyone have pictures of where this hanger causing this rattle actually is? I developed the same rattle immediately after installing my RP Supercat.

Rattle is only apparent at low RPM (750) when waiting at a light. It sounds really bad. Guess I'll do some hunting this week. I'll post a pic if I can locate it.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

i have the same problem but after sitting under my car i found that the hanger near the diff the exhaust piece hooked to the hanger was rubbing against it and to test if that was the problem i applied a tiny bit of high heat liquid gasket and ran my car for a couple of days and the noise is gone. but the question is how to keep the exhaust from rubbing without adding anything to space the diff from the exhaust

Put my midpipe back on with my Borla the other day and fixed my exhaust leaks with new gaskets and bolts. Started the car to test it out and got a loud rattle coming from the back of the car in low rpm range. Come to find out the side of the muffler in the center (bottom) was vibrating. Do you guys think this would be normal with the little additional airflow and no cat and resonator? Any ideas on what to do to remedy the problem?

No that shouldn't be normal. Is the rattle coming from where the pipes join? I ask because I am trying to source mine so I can fix it as well. Thanks.

I have that rattling back there as well. It is annoying and I can't find it. I asked the guy I have tied up in the trunk and he says it not him, so its gotta be the heat shield deal on exhaust somewhere.

All piping is sealed with exhaust sealer and heat sheild is gone (thought this might have been the problem but it wasn't). There is not any rubbing anywhere. I had my friend get in the car and press the accelerator and i got under the traced it to the muffler itself. Got pissed took midpipe off and threw it the in the yard and put the old cat back on and rattle went away. I think it may be the extra noise causing a rattle in the muffler, thought borla would hold up better than that.

Ditto - I have a brand new exotic speed and it has rattled since day one. The muffler shop said it rubs the heat shield and suggested that I use a bolt to secure the shield to the body. Has anyone found a fix for this it sounds like hell?

Bump. Anyone get this fixed? I noticed my left tip rattling during idle, and when I change gears from park to reverse or drive, it rattles in the back, as well as at idle.
