they should. otherwise, racing beat would of said something, and most likely would of already made a separate system for the '06 model.

thanks for this how to. Did mine in less than 5 min and took out the little walls inside the box. Noise it a bit louder with the green filter.

This is probably the single most important post in this thread! That grommet does not stay in like the rest and drops directly in to the fan.

Pay VERY close attention to it when you are pushing the box back in and feel around to make sure it is still there once the box is reinstalled! This just happened to me 2x in a row and I finally just left it out also. It is kind of a pain to fish it out but an 18" grabber tool worked for me (the type with the little prongs on the end that you open and close from the top).

 

So true about that little plastic hook. I cut it too.

 

My useless plastic clip is holding a vacuum hose. Might be different on different models.

 

in continuing the OT nature of this part...
its louder..other than that, i dont notice much of a difference, i know there have been at least 2 different variants of the typhoon, the first ones (they look like a double width cone) are the ones that have been known to have an issue with idling, the newer generation was designed to correct that (filter in an inferted cone in a carbon fiber housing), it also comes with a heatsheild that mounts into the same area as to stock air box to try to keep the heated air from getting pulled back into the intake

that being said about the warranty issue, as has been said its really up to the dealer, when my motor failed (04 mt 18,000 miles) the first thing they did was try to blame it on the intake, through a combination of a mechanic who was cool, myself, and a father who was pretty irate over hearing about it (he was the one who had to give me the ride to the dealership) we ended up getting it taken care of under warranty, but it was alot of stress and hassle, over something that shouldnt have been. i go to the other dealership in town and i get compliments about how the car sounds with the new intake. and not a one issue with it being on there

This technique didn't work for me at all. In fact, I broke one of the posts, and it fell into the engine bay somewhere. I can't find it anymore. :\

 

That sucks. What were you doing when it broke? Pushing back to pop out the first two posts, or lifting to remove the lower two? I used this technique to remove my airbox this weekend and it worked great. Sorry to hear you had problems with it.

 

I was trying to push out the top two posts.

 

can not get air filter box OFF!!!!

 

Push back on the box hard. The accordion intake pipe will compress and the front pegs will pop out of the grommets. Make sure the lower grommets are in place when you reinstall the box.

I guess Im too weak... I tried and I cant get it... I also have a messed up arm from a recent accident so that probably dosent help... I will just get my sweetie to do it :o)

 

I took the top part of the box off to check the filter. Anyways now theres these two latches that I cant get snapped back, stole the pic to help point it out The box seems to open a tad it seems without those, car seems a little louder too.

This is definitely the lil' bastard that's keeping me from getting this sucker out. I'm thinking that I may snip this clip off too. I can't see how it's useful at all.

 

I used this method for the first time today. Can't believe I've been prying the accordian hose off for the last two years. Very easy, very convenient. Did not see the center grommet that seems to bedevil others. Only two upper and two lower gormmets. Upper driver side grommet came out when removing the box. Was there a design change that eliminated the center grommet or am I missing something?
