DIY: Easy footwell light install

I'm all about interior lighting, so i began by going to autozone, and i bought the flexible LED strips. i think it was 2 for 20$ or something like that... this is an extremely simple procedure.
1. run one of the strips behind/ through the huge mass of wires behind the center dash.. this is the hardest thing to do.
2. just slap it on.. its adhesive and will stick right to the back firewall
3. do the same thing on the other side with the other strip.
4. I put the ground wire into the bolt that holds the foot rest on the left side.. pretty simple.. just remember to screw it back tight, or every time u put ur foot there it will go off :P
5. The 12V source can be found in the fuse box.. I rigged mine into the radio's fuse I believe.. not sure though.. anyways thats it. done.... if you want to go the extra step you could throw in a switch.. but personally i like it on all the time, so it was not necessary for me.

going to autozone now. that looks sick, and it seems simple enough.

Ya I love them. I'm crazy about lighting.. replaced the dome, map, and puddle lights as well with red. I also got the exterior lighting version of the footwell lights installed underneath the headlights. replaced the parking lights, and got 8000K HID headlights.. and then some lighting effect on my subs. I love it all.

I'd love a full pic of your interior! Your Dome & MAP is it red as well? I've been thinking of going all out red rather than the blueish white; but i have a two-toned red interior =(

Here's a few more pics. My suggestion would be to find a really bright led for the dome light... because mine isnt very bright at all :/ But I never have a need for it anyway so it doesnt really bother me. And i'm jealous of your twotoned interior.. Thats what i really wanted, but I just couldnt find one.

I would go with tapping off of something that's only hot when the parking lights are on, might let the LED's last a litte bit longer and they would be more useful when it's dark, my opinion of course, love the idea though definitely considering it.

Post deleted because we are now attempting to keep the DIY forum relevant. Unrelated question/discussion posts are not DIY thread material

please either start a thread for posting your question in the Interior, Audio, and Electronics forum or alternatively perform a search of the DIY forum for the subject and then tack your question onto the appropriate thread if it exists

thank you

Alex,

Did you install the led strips on the inside or outside the headlamp assembly? I want this look on my 8 so bad.

I been searching online and this is the best description on how to install it. My only question is how to connect the lights so they only turn on with the doors or even doom light? but i do not want to wire it to the doom its going to be too complicated for my car.

Did this to mine too. I rigged mine up to the headlight switch somehow. (It's been a couple years since I've done it now) Then they only come on with the headlights. It looks sick when driving in the dark. I can do a little digging if anybody does want to tie into the headlights...let you know how I did it.
