VISTEON 41525

i just followed this instructions: (few modification to be more NOOB friendly like me)

Remote Programming
• Ensure that all doors, trunk, and hood are closed,
• open the driver’s door
Carry out the operation below within 24 seconds:
Insert key
• Turn ignition to the run position and off, 3 times (on-off, on-off, on-off)
• Leave key in ignition (off position, not lock or on)
• Push door switch, 3 times (The door switch is the little rubber one on the jamb of the rear door next to your elbow when sitting in the driver’s seat, which controls the interior lights.)
• Car will lock, then unlock automatically after pressing the door switch 3 times
While the car is in unlock mode, Push 'Lock' on your newly acquired remote 2 times, (some suggest unlock, so try both)
• You will notice after pressing the Lock button on your remote, Car will lock, then unlock automatically again.
• Take out you key on the ignition and test your remote.

If it doesn't work, wait for a minute or so and repeat the procedure

NOTE: I DONT HAVE any existing remote. so no need to have an existing remote to do this procedure

One question though, i notice on most Rx8, when pressing the lock button on the remote the horn will honk, but mine doesn't have... anything i missed?

Do you know if this will work on the 07 wireless key fob? I am having problems with my wireless key fob.

saw this on dhgate tonight... might be an easy fix for those that don't have a second key for programming.

If so WDS can start your car without your key and why do they want you to leave your set of keys behind for service then . Hope this helps.
It is just the solution for my problem, Thanks for your instruction!

For those who bought the switchblades off of eBay (that worked), can you list the seller you bought it from?

Just purchased a switchblade Key/Remote Combo from the Ebay Dealer Midwestkeyless for $47.27 shipped.

Listed as "MAZDA KEY KEYLESS ENTRY REMOTE FOB SWITCHBLADE KPU41788"

I just got it cut and programmed with 2 original keys. Worked flawlessly per instructions on the 1st page.

Remote also programmed 1st time with ease, again, as per instructions on the 1st page.

Thanks for all the great info on here!

The key part of the switchblade is a blank key. You need to have it cut to match your original key just like having a key copied.

Rx8Freehk, I have an 04 also and I was thinking of ordering 2 of these remotes from Midwestkeyless. What was the visteon model, FCC ID, and IC#'s of your old remote if you dont mind? Just want to make sure they match mine so it will actually work before I drop the money for them. thanks

i have tried using the flow chart and i get to the part where the doors lock on there own after pressing the door switch 3 times . then i press the remote and nithing. I have tried several times thinking that the remote worked on a rolling code and would maybe take a while to match with the car but still no joy. I have tested that there is a signal coming from both of my remotes , they are both fine. Although can't say what the signal is. My remotes are visteon model No 41844 , do you or anyone else have any clues whats going on . I thought the battery had died because it stopped working all of a sudden but changing had no effect

I had the same thing happen to me, ady. Remote just stopped working. Changed the battery and that didn't help. Went through the steps like you and I couldn't get the car to respond after pressing the button on the remote. Ended up having to buy another one. Bought a used one off eBay and worked like a charm first run through of the reprogramming process.

Been two years since my '04 Key FOB stopped working. It's now time to get a Switch Blade key...

The FOB only transmits a signal to lock/unlock/pop trunk. The key has a microchip that needs to be programmed......

you need AT LEAST 2 keys that are already cut/programmed (this can include the valet key) to program another key, after having it cut.

If you don't have 2 keys already that will unlock/start the car you will have to get the new key cut (anywhere can cut the key so it unlocks the door) AND you will have to get it programmed so it will start the car. You can get the programming done at a dealership or at select locksmiths.

Once you have those 2 programmed you can program another.

If your FOB goes bad you don't need any working ones to program the new one. All you need is ONE functioning key (fully functioning, unlocks and starts car). Use that key and follow the procedure to program the FOB.

If you have an '04 you CAN buy the switchblade FOB with FCC ID: KPU41788. It will program correctly.

my 04 remote went out. about to buy the switch blade. and i will have to do both the key encoding and the programing on the remote. since im getting a new uncut key. hope this will work.

Question: after click 3 times the door switch, i will click the "lock" button on the remote while is in the ignition correct?

As long as you do everything with in 28 seconds.

Addendum:
After two years without a working FOB, I finally bought a used set from eBay for $20.
Received it and programmed both in seconds.

So i just recently bought an 04 used from someone, and they only gave me 1 key and 1 remote

i've been wanting to switch out to the switchblade one and in order for me to do so I would have to go to the dealer to get it reprogrammed with their machine

my question is, could i go buy another switch blade after that and reprogram the new 3rd switchblade using the mazda newly reprogrammed key and my old 04 key?

i've been hearing that the ecu picks up a different frequency and all that stuff

all the mazda dealerships around here in canada charge 50$ to program a key and 50$ to program the fob which is disgusting
