Whats the difference?
what really is the difference between the RB air intake ad the K&N typhoon.. except that the k&n isnt totally covered? if thats the case, i can i cut my RB intake open to make it louder and have more airflow?

You don't want to cut open the intake... it being sealed helps keep cooler air in the intake... Being open the intake will suck in hot ambient air from the engine.\, which will decrease some perfomance.
I would just leave it the way it as... and maybe at the RB air duct also..

the stock air box is very good. aftermarket airboxs dont add too much sound, as for performance, there really is non. maby like 1 horsepower during the winter.

THE K&N COMES WITH A CARBON FIBER FILTER AND A HEATSHIELD - I CANT REALLY SAY IF IT SUCKS HOT AIR FROM THE ENGINE BAY OR NOT - THAT NEEDS TO B TESTED
ANYBODY INTERESTED IN TESTING THIS? ???????????????

i'll be nice... many differences:
RB intake: -draws cold air from outside the car, making it a CAI
-has an outside duct
-shows a slight HP gain on the dyno
-more expensive
K&N intake: -short ram intake
-sucks up a lot of hot air, under the hood
-loud like an angry weed whacker

How do you know the K&N "sucks up a lot of hot air"? If you have air intake temperature data please share it. I've noticed no difference in intake air temp between the stock and K&N v.2. The liner on the inside of the hood helps to seal the box that the filter is in. Sure it's not a perfect seal but good enough that intake air temp does not seem to be affected.
edit: FWIW, I have the K&N v. 2 with a strip of foam insulating material on the top edge of the heat shield. It helps provide a better seal with the hood.
