What was that exhaust again?

Does anybody remember seeing a Work In Progress (back then) on an exhaust setup for the RX-8 that looked kinda like the HKS single, but instead with dual angled canisters to each side? It was going to have as minimal bending as possible to the rear bumper if I remember their goals.

The closest thing I can find that resembles it is probably something like this http://memimage.cardomain.net/member...2406006_17.jpg of course the exhaust setup could resemble something closer to the SW20 MR2's.

What was that company and are they finished with it?

Yes that's the ONE!! Thank you all.

I was about to purchase the HKS single but I vaguely remembered THIS Rotary Extreme/Helix design from a long time ago and wondered if it was certainly available now.

I saw the last project status update on the website was 1-9-04. I haven't seen any reviews on it, esp on the exhaust summary sticky. What has happened since then? Has this exhaust been axed?

Least their video is still up. The pictures show how beautiful that piece is, esp when you can see it from under the rear. I gotta have it!

This is exhaust is NOT for sale. IzzI was the only one I ever heard had this exhaust, and it was a pre-production I believe. I don't know what it was about the design, but it made the exhaust note simply sound exotic. Most amazing exhaust I've ever heard on a car under $60k.

I love this exhaust as well. We have to get someone to copy this design and make it production happy. So far I have the turboxs exhaust but I always wanted this one. Does anybody know what mufflers they use? I may just go to a exhaust shop and make'em fab one up with these mufflers.

It is a shame the Helix exhaust never made it into full production. It is one of the more unique designs I have seen for the RX8. Does anyone know the real story behind why this exhaust never made it? Helix is HQ'd in Japan right? I can't imagine there isn't a demand considering the number of cool looking RX8's we see pictured in Japan. I know rotaryextreme seemed to be involved in the testing of the exhaust, and I hope it wasn't their business issues that killed the production of this unit. Again, that may have had nothing to do with it, but it would sure be nice if that particular exhaust choice was available.

yea vendors that list it really don't have it, they're just too lazy to take off those pictures. Don't waste the effort, there's only a 3 people that have it and all of them don't post on the boards. Good luck. Exhaust note was f'in sweet though...

I contacted www.gruppe-s.com. They are the official USA distributer of Helix. I told them about the demand and i told them that i would pay just about any amount for this exhaust. I love the sound and am the pickest person when it comes to the sound of my car.

This cycle happens about once a year. Perhaps this will be the year enough people inquire about it, and they make it again, but more than likely not. My money is on not.

everyone needs to email sales@gruppe-s.com and tell them about the extreme demand for the Helix sus. the more the better. lets get this exhaust back. I'll take it even if i have to bring it to an exhaust shop to fix the clearance problems.
