what to do, what to do

Alright, i have a straight stock 04 RX8, I might be selling it, but if I can't or if i don't hear the right price then i want to start throwing in aftermarket stuff. The problem is that I'm short on money and i'd still like to save up this summer to have cash to dump into my loan, any ideas for some mildly cheap, easy mods to cut down the 1/4 time? Thanks

If money is an issue at all, don't mod the car, enjoy it the way it is. Otherwise, the only thing I can think of that will cut your 1/4 mile time that is remotely cheap is maybe a lightweight flywheel.

Mods for this car are not cheap, and they don't get you much. The only REAL way to significantly reduce your 1/4 mile times is to go FI.

I know its more of a road car than a 1/4 car, i've taken advantage of that on numerous occasions lol thing drives like its on rails, best news i've heard all year other than metallica coming to cincy is that they're opening an 8 mile road course down in KY that i can take my car down to

Then search through different threads and you won't get flamed.

dude wtf that was a completely legit post with a ton of information, he wasn't being an *******. you should just pick up some springs and sways, wont make it faster, but it'll make the car more fun in the curves. like the other guy said, FI is the only real way to make power, a midpipe might help a little, but not much, the cobb ap is 700, and a flywheel will run about 300 plus another 300 for install. stick with the suspension, maybe get a short shifter, wont make it faster, but deff more fun.

Have him follow you, go on a twisty back road, and just punch it, see who slides their car into a pole, then you can tell him HAHA. i have a friend in the hospital right now because of a swerving in a mustang, got fu**ed up real bad, and all i could think was...that would have never happened in my car.

The bottom line is that there is no cheap way to accomplish fast with an 8 without a fair amount of cash....I'm myself getting ready to mod my car extensively and cheap it isn't but it should be fun

No chips, none of that EBAY SC $100 crap... you wanna enjoy the RX8 spend big, our cars ain't cheap to modify....

1. Optima Battery + BHR Ignition kit + Nology Wires + Ground Kit = $1000
2. Clutch & Flywheel Upgrade + AFE Short Shifter = $800
3. Exaust + Intake + Midpide = $1100
4. Good Coilovers = $1300
5. Light Wheels = $1200
6. BHR Radiator = $500
7. Pulleys = $200
8. Cobb AP = $700

Now this is a good basic set up for the RX8, add all this up and it's aproximate $6800, you will be faster than stock but it's best to get a good complete Esmeril / PTP / Type 2 Turbo Kit for $6000, you will get 400whp or more ...

Everyone has their opinion how they want to modify their cars, the owner needs to know exactly what he/she likes to get from them.

Not knowing which actual part you are looking at your prices, that should give you good parts, but yours prices seem a little very conservative ie light wheel for 1100?? the light wheel I'm looking at are about 2500....but they is so many choice

The list below is based brand new, of course if you buy them use, there could be a chance you might save at least 30% of everything.. the truth is , if it's a good MOD such as the ones listed, only a few get lucky to buy at the right time, sometimes all of us don't have the cash at the right moment, that's just luck .. jejeje..

Well... since you've labeled me the *******, for no apparent reason...

Forget about 1/4 mile time. Unless you're making this a dedicated drag car, what's the point?

I'm guessing that this is your daily driver, why not just make it a more pleasurable daily then?

You can spend $2000 - $3000 on mods and prob gain just 20 horses (N/A). Instead of that, why don't you invest in some suspension?

Now.... this is all in my own opinion....

Get some springs and shocks... or just springs if that's all you can afford, and reuse your stock shocks, and some sway bars. Right away the aesthetics of your car is improved as well as handling.
Taking a tight corner in your 8, with control and confidence, will put a bigger smile on your face than a 20 horse gain.

Just Get some stickers, it will gain you 20hp if you put it on the engine. I swear it works, I did that to mine.

practice.

that is only $20 a day.

i did 14.4 stock, so until you hit that, you arent really reaching the car's potential.

I don't think I could recommend suspension, only cause I don't have personal experience with all/most of them.

I have Tanabe GF210 springs, on stock shocks.. but will be getting some Koni's next month. And as far as sway bars, I had Progress Sways, and I liked them alot, but I sold them. Next month I will be trying to get some AP's.
