What company makes the Mazdaspeed exhaust?

Who makes the dual mazdaspeed exhaust? What type of muffler is it (i.e. straight through design with packing, baffles, etc.)?

Any other info that you all know about this too. Thanks.

Side by side with alnielsen's car, we noticed that his corksport exhaust is definitely louder than my mazdaspeed exhaust. I suppose that could be due to the differences in the engines, but I don't know that for sure.

But then the Rev8 and the MS would appear identical...which they do not...

From what I know...RB works for Mazda occasionally...but thats about it...

If thats the case, then someone has changed mufflers. My mufflers look different than the ones on the Mazdaspeed I saw. My Corksport are larger in diameter and a little shorter.

Would the MS exhaust work if planning on going turbo in the future?

sure it will work, but it also depends on how big you want your exhaust piping to be when you go turbo

The Corksport was in existence some at least 2 yrs before the (similar) MS came out...so how it possible Corksport "stole" smthg that didn't exist? There no choice who to believe, there are only facts. Not to mention the weld quality on the Corksport is noticeably cleaner. My quess is after looking at the rest, they couldn't build a higher quality, lighter, nicer sounding, more attractive exhaust, so they simply copied the Corksport as best they wanted to and still make more money.

The corksport exhaust is not that loud but I do not know if that has do with the updated muffler design. Also I'm not sure when they updated the muffler so maybe the comparisons above are with the updated muffler.

Corksport told me Mazda was not happy that they (corksport) came out with MS front bumper minus the side markers and next thing they know, MS exhaust looks just like theirs.

I do not know when they made the update but the newer dual can has rounded sides where as the older style was flat. IIRC, Corksport said they did it for strength.

I bought my (rounded can) Corksport as 'used' from a forum member in Feb-2005, so it really musta been a early proto version perhaps that had the other can type.

I was wrong about the latest shape for Corksport exhaust. The rounded cans were the older style. Here are pics of the new cans.

Mazda wants the Mazdaspeed exhaust. Mazdaspeed is Mazda's inhouse performance shop.
