If I remeber correctly the MT is 5.9 sec for 0-60 and the quarter mile is about 15 sec at 90 mph. You might want to check on CarandDriver.com to verify. I think that's where I read about it originally.

Base meaing AUTO? If so their hard to find............ I searched myself and couldnt find anything. But for the Manual with a clutch drop you can get 5.9 sec for 0-60mph and about 14.5 for the 1/4 Mile.

You can actually get it to 60 in lesser time than that...takes skill!! But yeah, on the norm 5.9 sec is correct.

How come the guys at Car And Driver couldn't get it faster than 5.9? I thought they were professionals.

Yeah I know but his RX8 is an Auto and he should be able to find plenty of information and specs on the Manual RX8. So I was thinking he would have to be talking about the Auto.

0-60: 5.9
Transmission: Manual
1/4 Mile: 14.5
1/4 Speed: 96

These times for the GT version, since the base is lighter I'd assume it'd be slightly better.

Those times were quoted by Mazda for the Japanese Rx8 which has 250hp not the American 238hp version. In June,2003 Mazda claims that the American rx8 has 250hp but it doesn't so Mazda offered to buy back all the rx8's because of false claim.I bought mines on August,2003 & got $500 plus free schedule maintenance for keeping car.

Actually those were very similar to the times that Motor Trend got in their March 2004 test vs. the S2000 & 350Z. Staed with the 238 hp version :

0-60 : 6.0 sec
1/4 mile : 14.49 @ 95.47

Yeah, the Japan version 8 might be slightly faster than our version since they have an additional 12 ponies but those times:

6-5.9 0-60
14.4-14.7 1/4 mile

Is the norm per verious mag's and online car websites. Me and IkeWRX have a running argument about these numbers but I think when at LEAST two car mag's get those times it makes it valid. I can't wait to run my 8 one day so I can put the times to the test, like I have done regarding fuel economy.

So far...rx8wannahave (who said that 13mpg cars had problems OR were driven HARD were not the norm) 1

RX8 evil fuel economy 0

LOL...I just hope the ghost of evil fuel economy does not one day rear it's ugly head, but so far I raise my chin and say...ha ha ha...I told you so....

With the 0-60 & 1/4 mile times...we shall see. I think once I get about 5K on her I"ll go try, if the price is reasonable...that is...

base rx8 6-speed was tested by motor trend at a 14.5 second quarter mile time and high 5 second 0-60 times. not bad.

There has been a claim by one guy in Cali that ran a 14.3 at 98mph.... but that is probably much quicker and fast than average.

14.5 at 95 seems to be the average.

I G-tech'd my auto RX-8 with B&B full exhaust, RE intake and I think the pullies and I got a 7.9-second run, but that was with revving it to 7,000 and giving it a neutral slam dunk (extremely bad for the car). From a standing start (since you can old brake torque to 2k) was around 8.9, I believe. Not a fast car at all, but it makes up for it on the track. Kinda off-topic, but I ran the G-tech on my M3 with a SSk a week ago before it started to snow again. I rev'd to 6 and lauched it to a 4.7-second 0-60! This is by far the best I did for that day. I started at a measly 5.1 and slowly cut the times down, then again I have 295's on a 18x11 HRE 447R. All in all, the M3 is quicker, but I still do miss the ability to eat anything up on the track with my RX-8. I can't go into a corner going 75 and tail it out with my M like I did with the RX-8; it was arguably the best car I ever drove through the chikanes at Gingerman.

7000 rpm clutch drop with DSC off will get you 5.9 to 60 and 14.5 quarter.
