Weight of turbo/super charger?
I was just thinking.... what's the typical weight of a turbo or supercharger? If mazdaspeed comes out with a kit for our'04 rx8s, would it mess up the weight distribution and make it a bit nose heavy and take something away from the handling side? Does it mean you probably have to get a new suspension system tuned to the new balance of the car? Or is the weight effects of an add-on mazdaspeed kit negligible?

30-40 pounds tops. The stock twin turbos from an rx-7 weigh 33 pounds. Add intercooler and hoses and the whole thing would be close to 45 pounds.
An single turbo 8 would weigh next to nothing in comparison.

Just remember that everytime you get into your car alone, it gets heavier on the driver's side! Manufacturers claim weight distribution numbers based on what they feel is most likely the average weight of 2 passengers and a full tank of gas. At least that's what the RX-7's were based on.

I am pretty sure I will be trunk-mounting the Optima battery and nitrous tank when I install my supercharger. I'll let everyone know about 4-wheel weight distribution.
