Uncle Sam is buying my mid pipe, which one?

Ok well I got my "stimulus" check in the mail the other day, so Im going to get something that will stimulate me.

Im looking to buy a midpipe. I have sifted through alot of posts but never found any striaght information regarding quality and gains.

I will be running the HKS Hi Power once I get it installed.

I dont care about the smell of the catless mid pipe, just looking for the biggest HP gain and something with good quality that wont have cracked welds in 6 months.

What should I go with guys?

b&b is 2.5", so I wouldn't recommend that.

turboxs is 3" ID, but the flanges aren't likely to seal up properly with the hi-power since it's too large.

I donno if you have much of a choice in terms of midpipe, as it seems you either get something that can mate up to the 2.5" stock exhaust, or go with a full 3" exhaust.

Well catless will give you the most gains from a midpipe. Also, do you want a midpipe that is 3" ID or 2.5" ID?

Im sorry but I am not paying that much for a midpipe, $479 is insane in my opinion.

Got my 3-inch TurboXS midpipe on this week and bolted it up to my already existing 3-inch TurboXS catback. I really liked the sound of my exhaust before with the stock cat. It had a nice, deep sound. I'm still N/A. With the midpipe on it's extremely loud and it's taking some getting used to. It's definetly doing what it's intended to; give me more power. It's just that it's not intended for street use. I really feel the difference on the tollway at high speeds. I like the fumes too whenever I'm at a stoplight with the windows down. It kinda sounds like it's running on rice now but so far everyone who's road with me enjoys the f-ck out of it. I see a 'loud exhaust' ticket in the near future.

It's great for street use, you just need a turbo to muffle it

No, it didn't throw a CEL right away. Not until the next day for some reason. I will muffle it with a turbo just as soon as someone donates one to me........or as soon as I get a job.

3" ID or OD? The pipe racingbeat sells is 3" OD.

Mid pipe is a GREAT mod and Mazsport's was the only option for me because I think the sound of mid pipes are insane without a dual resonator (IMHO of course). I don't have FI -- perhaps my opinion would change if I did.

any exhaust compatible with the OEM exhaust or cat will be doing that. This means just about every system available for the rx-8.

Thats why the turboxs midpipe is listed as being incompatible with anything other than the turboxs exhaust.

So your saying every other mid pipe is garbage?

So I should pay $479 plus whatever the cost is for the spacers so the brace clears the 2nd resonator?

I have had friends with B&B and RX7 store midpipes on their 8s. If you like being heard several counties away knock yourself out with one of those. ESPECIALLY if you are running the HKS hi-power.

I have the ExoticSpeed midpipe. It has one resonator. I didn't notice a huge difference in volume TBH.
