Tiny Turbo?

I had a project idea on the mind for a bit. Wanted to research cost possibles and whats out there.
So all you turbo gurus that know every model and specs by heart, what turbos are available for as follows.
1. Tiny in size
2. low boost is good, 3-6psi
3. Quality turbo (no trashy 2 employee machine shop special crap)
4. Ball bearing if possible.

won't be able to run boost that low, wastegate probably won't flow enough unless you have a restrictive exhaust

and you still have all the fixed cost of manifold, exhaust, intercooler, engine management, etc

For low boost a GT2871R is an excellent turbo.

But IMO running 3-6psi is pointless, you can get the same effect from nitrous with a much lower cost

I love how everyone immediatly assumes I'm after horsepower.
arghx7 no where did I say i'm a dumby who thinks all I have to do is glue some metal fan to my car to make it go faster. All I asked about was models of turbo. I will clarify, I know the costs, I understand the mechanics and technology behind it. All I want is turbo models.
Chickenwafer thank you for the first part exactly what I asked.

"GT2871R on left, stock SR T25 on the right"
Looking for smaller still though. The GT2871R has some size to it. I'm after small as well.

More like this. Although I'm not sure what turbo this is?

turbo = torque. even at 6 psi it will be a nice step up and you won't need to fill up bottles.

I've got a different angle to your goal - a positive displacement SC. If you are just looking for a little kick in the seat and have fabrication skills it will lead to full boost by 2000 rpms. The Renesis will take ~5 psi non-intercooled, no problem.

TD04 off a Subaru WRX? They're popular on 1.3-1.8L 4bangers. Slightly smaller than a T25.
If you want to go even smaller... CT12 is a Toyota turbo off the twin turbo Supra. It's pretty small though.. really too small. Even a TD04 would be too small here I think, but heck you asked for it.

But you don't necessarily want a small turbo, even when running low boost... you want a turbo that is big enough not to be a major restriction, but with the right A/R combination to give you boost at a reasonably low flowrate (rpm)... I have no idea what those A/Rs would be for an RX, I never looked into it, but yeah... there is such a thing as a turbo too small.

In that case we can go smaller still, Toyota CT9 off a Starlet GT, it's almost too small for the 1.3L 4banger in there. 4efte is the engine code.

Runs out of efficiency at about 200bhp no matter how you turn it. spins to 190,000rpm :P

Get an IHI VF39 turbo off an STi, instant spool.

So if you're not after horsepower, then what are you after?

GT25

The only turbo Chewie can make look small.
It was almost too small for a low-boost Miata.

Just an experiment on effects of boost and fuel mileage. Just to see what I can do with small amounts of boost and playing with the backpressure to see if you can increase gas mileage. I never drive the car so I mean even if it works the cost will far exceed the benefit, but still curious. I'm sure mazda maniac has done something along these lines, but maybe not?
As it is an experiment yeah probably not gonna lay down $1,700 per turbo haha.

Red Devil: I have thought about jackson racings new Rotrex, but I can't get ahold of them they never respond *shrugs*, but I've been hesitant as the tug on the motor down low would loose the benefit of torque allowing for more efficent gearing.

Here is an article about a prius owner doing something similar. http://autospeed.com/cms/title_The-S...4/article.html
I know thats piston and CVT, but thats why I'm curious what can be done with a rotary.

Also look at it this way. Ok yes emissions blah blah, but ok we have the newer engine more efficient. Then why in 1993 did the TT RX7 have the same average gas mileage? Also FD's are 5 speed tranny. Having the extra gear I should be able to improve on the numbers.
