I'm trying to get B&B catback and thinking about getting the midpipe as well. But I hear its not street legal?
If it is not street legal, will the cop be able to tell and pull me over definitely?

 

the only way he would be able to tell would be to go under the car.i had many cars with midpipes and had no problems the only problem you run into is it may be to loud for you .

Well, Federal law prohibits modification to any emissions control device for street use but there is the issue of enforcement. A well-informed officer can tell when the cat is removed. If you get a mid-pipe w/silencer you might be able to convince him that the silencer is a high-flow cat. How are the Missouri cops with regard to exhaust modification laws?

Yes...it is NOT legal for road use...It violates noise ordinances and the EPA code for removing emissions control devices...

Some people may have gotten away with it before but you can be pulled over for the noise and then an undercarriage inspection can insue in which either (nice cop): you get a fix it ticket, or (mean cop): impoundment..

 

I have my midpipe removed...no problems yet, my friend has removed all 3 cats in his WRX and hasn't had any problems for a whole year. Taking out the cat isn't that noisy at low rpms IMO, so when I see a cop I just shift it into neutral or stay in 6th and cruise.

In some states the emissions testing is merely a way to comply with federal law and receive the funding that goes along with it. The allowed ppm's of certain compounds may not be what would objectively be defined as "clean" but each state is allowed to set their own limits(I think). The states must then, generally, show improvement in air quality. In my county there is an argument between county exec's and the Feds over whether or not our air quality has improved. Michigan had emissions testing but then abandoned it due to its unpopularity.

Putting back the original midpipe is a simple procedure...just need a jack and a couple of jackstands with a set of sockets and a socket wrench. Of course there are some shady places that will give you the sticker...no questions asked...for a few extra bucks but I don't advocate going this route.

Yes, just make sure you put them in the right spots. I used them to install a catback, upipe, downpipe, transmission/engine mounts on my friend's WRX and to put on my catback and midpipe...no problems.
