Thumbs up Tanabe super medalion hyper review

Hi my super medalion came in 3 days ago and i figured since there isn't much feedback on this exhaust i'd post up.

anyways the exhaust came in and i quickly tried installing it. To my surprise, with a friend of course, i finished it in less than 2 hours. the only hard part were those ddddddiiiiirtyyyy exhaust hangers. I have a newfound hatred for rubber exhaust hangers. If I they hadn't gotten in the way i would've been done in 20 min. my tactic against them was soapy water (taking the advice of forum members), a pair of pliers and a screwdriver.

well, after all was said and done and i got a few band aids, it turned out great. the tips look pretty nice, and the sound is quite amazing. At idle it's very close to stock unless standing right behind where u can hear a nice little rumble. At 3k rpm it's still near stock unless in higher gears where it drones but when i say drone i mean just verrry slightly. i can still hear my radio at low volumes. when you get on it however it sounds very nice. loud but not so loud as to drown out the engine sound. that also could be because the engine sound also increased slightly. but wow what a good sound it all is. flooring it from 3k-9k the car goes from passive to ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh pop pop lol. the misfires are very light not like a catless rotary. from what i hear also it is significantly(about 12lbs i think?) lighter than stock but i never really checked so don't take my word for it.

Powerwise. I actually felt a difference. from what people were saying around the forums about catbacks i was skeptical but the increase is definately there. i felt a slight increase from about 3500-8500. of course this is just from what i could tell through the feel of my foot but i honestly think i have some super powers or something

For about 650 shipped to my door im actually satisfied. i did not think i would be but i am.

Would you know how does the piping diameter compare with TurboXS's catback? Not the tips, but the piping that goes to the catalytic converter.

Thanks!

It is the stainless steel, and im not sure on piping size i believe it is 2.5" though. Also just to add on to this thread i also recently added on the racing beat intake. The combo soundwise is perfect to me. totally ideal. and the total power increase was nice. sure nothing amazing but i wouldnt expect it being that i changed a catback and intake. before i put the intake on the car was only a little louder than stock unless at WOT, but now it is perfect with the addition of the intake, at idle it still alllmost sounds stock but everywhere else you can tell that it's modded, but still never getting too loud.

I have this same cat back with the RP high flow cat. They compliment each other very well, and the car is loud, but not oppressive. I don't have pics either, but if you've seen the RB exhaust I'd say they look similar. The tips aren't too large and don't stick out anymore than stock. You can tell there is an aftemarket exhuast there, but overall the Tanabe cat back is pretty stealthy - which I like.

What about a sound clip? I'm interested in purchasing this exhaust too, but I'll reserve my judgement until I hear it.

I have searched BTW.

i just put on the same exhaust and i felt it was too quiet. i was concerned of a exhaust being to loud. i did not expect it to be to soft. Im just curious on how it compares to the racing beat. the RB is suppose to be the most quiet. the sound clip of the RB sounds louder than my tanabe.

thanks for the clip! it definitely sounds mean.. even better that you have an intake so i can gauge how a new exhaust would sound with mine.....
