Stoker?

Do you mean stroker? if so, you're SOL. No pistons, cylinders to bore out, or rods to lengthen the stroke in a rotary.

Sorry I used to own a shitty DSM that broke something every time I went down the track lol

Im just looking for a good performance engine builder here in the US, Since I bought the RX8 as a shell and would like to get a good fast Rotary Motor rather then going with a stock motor.

Thanks Troy.

Despite the redonkulous request, I will recommend Dave at KDRotary/Speed1 in PA. He built my new motor. Very experienced, very straightforward individual and builds every kind of rotary. "Stock" to race.

All i can say is, do some research. There is tons of valuable info on the site here. Plenty of posts on engine builds, power adders, forced induction, you name it.

If you want to make power and create a drag car, you're in the wrong place, or want to spend a fortune.

Im from MN.

I do know that its not cheap to build a drag motor as I did have a 2.4l stroker on my DSM and it was built by Slowboy Racing, My reason for selling that is because I was tired of it bending valves or oil pumps going out. Just that Mitsubishi reliability plane sucks!

Im sure that it would probably cost me more to build my motor on the Mazda compared to the DSM, But the Mazda will hold up better

A properly built engine, yes. The tranny and axles, no. The car just wasn't designed for drag racing.

You're looking at well over 15k to do i right without buying used parts. It probably still won't be "fast" in the 1320

I'm lost. Does his guy not know the difference between a rotary and piston driven engine? Stroker kits are made for reciprocating engines not rotary engines!

Read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stroker_Kit

Now sir you have a ton of research to do because you have no clue of what you have bought.

OOOH, I see ... So you are building a drag car? What motor do you want to go with, 13b or 20b? Seems like you lack a bit of experience with rotary motors?

Since you're in the MW region I would call Banzai Racing(IN) or Howard Coleman(WI). You can find Howard on the RX-7 club, but there are a few "rotary shops" around your area if I'm not mistaken. I'll check around...

4 rotor or stay home.

Google 'Puerto Rico fastest 4 rotor'.

It's the only way to drag......

If he goes with a 4 rotor, then he might as well stay N/A... Not that it matters considering the OP probably does not want to know the price for such a project.

Doesn't seem like he liked my 15k estimate to build a renny either.

Call Howard Coleman at Coleman Precision Rotaries.

To be honest the RX8 isn't the best platform for drag racing. However if you want to go road racing you have a great platform to build off.

Don't get to frustrated w/ people giving you a hard time. These motors are very unique and when you get them right are tons of fun.

Good luck.

I am sorry to say, but you prolly bought the wrong car ... It will be hard to get the rx8 to perform amazingly in a drag race unless you swap the ENTIRE drive train for an older FC/ FD one ... The greatest minds on this board have been fighting to get power out of this engine and the max seems to be 400 .... and that is unreliable at best... you will STILL be rebuilding your engine often at that power figure

At that power your transmission and axles are likely to go under drag racing conditions as well ... older rx7 transmissions AND engines are more proven and there is a clear path laid out for modifications.

You can ALWAYS try to be a pioneer in this area and push the envelope with this engine ... Everyone would welcome that ... however, judging by your statements that suggest a fundamental misunderstanding of the rotary engine, I think this is not your path

th biggest challenges arent going to be in power production. unless I'm mistaken the OP has already mentioned non-traditional Renesis applications. if he has the moeny, he can make the power.

the biggest issues and costs are gonna come with all the custom drivetrain and suspension work to put serious power to the ground in a fashion that lends itself to drag racing
