Working on it WOT. I had a LOT of edits because of the changes to the EMU software.
Actually, it is a bit out of control at the moment - I need to re-think the layout so that it is easier to actually use the info I've put together.
I'm still shooting for a pre-Christmas availability.

ic ic - well i'm glad your still going at it. I can't wait to get a copy.

I'm going to get my car on the dyno for some very conservative tweaking to my currnet map in december... and after i get your video... go at it again. Are you filming the video while using the Interceptor-X???

Thanks for supporting us less knowledged owners

ok engine master-- can you discuss a little of why we dont talk much about the rotaries
1- inlet charge temps(not intake temps)
2- torque/thermodynamic disruptions in sealing the combustion chamber
3- inlet port shapes
4- thermo coatings
5-queche
6- position of spark plugs and why
7- parisidic power lost
and last but not least what do we do with the siamese exhaust port on this dang beer barrel.

Well, I'm not going too deep into rotary-specific engine dynamics stuff except where it directly affects the tuning regimen because it is not practical for the most part (all that arcane voodoo ends up being a non-issue since we are only addressing things that pretty much apply to all motors equally).
However, I'll try to address some of that tonight.

I am down to the nitty-gritty on the video. I've actually started post-production on most of it.
However, I'd like to get input from those that might be interested in this video as to what SPECIFIC questions they would like answered, just incase I haven't thought of everything (which it is almost assured that I have not).

So, please, feel free to post any E-Manage Ultimate, RX-8 specific questions or topics you would like to see covered.

As for starting at square one, I have a book titled "How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems," by Jeff Hartman. I picked it up just to learn some basics and it does provide that. Supplement that with this thread and you have a great foundation.

For anyone wanting to get deeper into this, I have a thread on "Rotary Math" here:

https://www.rx8club.com/series-i-tech-garage-22/rotary-math-106294/

There are formulas for calculating just about every flow on the Renesis.

I'm very interested in the video - since there are no tuners in town (even bad ones) I may need this video just to keep running. MM, put me on the list.

I guess I should qualify that statement. There is no one that I can find that is qualified to tune the 8. I've checked with the local 7 club and they can recommend no one and the gentleman that does tuning for the 7s is afraid of the 8 and will not touch it. There are several Honda "tuners" in town but they refuse to touch the 8 (thank God). There are several local automobile forums upon which I have made it clear that I am seeking a tuner. Over the past year I have not received any responses. Now what I have found among the 7 crowd is that they tune the 7s to get them close and then bring in Steve Kan for the final tune. Presently my 8 is not running due to the s/c install. I am told that I have a map installed that will be compatible with the s/c. I am just wondering what will happen in the future if I need a tune, or the installed map does not work? Tow the car to Phoenix? I guess I was hoping that your video would help me at least get it running well enough to get it to a real tuner. I have absolutely no experience with todays tuning and as of yet do not even own a lap top but I am willing to learn - thus I read your posts to try (most are over my head).

Well, Vegas is a "second home" to me over the year - I'm usually there for work every month or so.
In fact, I'm going to be there July 5th and 6th.
I'm sure we could work something out along the way.

Ray and Dave will be here on the 1st to complete the install (I hope) of the s/c. If all goes well with the install maybe we can get together. I'm a worry wart that feels Murphy resides just around the corner - Who knows the map may work perfectly but I have been plagued with problems since I started this install. I'll PM you with my particulars

MM,
I PMd you on more info on Ignition Timing adjustments when tuning, but cleared my inbox and lost your reply. Care to share with everyone else here what you told me?

Specifically it was how to read the EGT gauge in correlation with proper ignition timing. thanks.

OH AND - ME LIKEY ONE VIDEO PLEASE!!!
eventhough i dont use the emanage... the basic theories would be helpful to have as a resource. OR you could just fly to hawaii for vacation, and by vacation i mean walk me through the info. SO FUN, YEAH?

LOL

Jeff, are you still working on the video? I am still interested and your projected pre Christmas release is getting closer. I know I don't have the Untimate but the video should give me elighment on which questions to ask using terms that a good tuner will understand.

Yes, still working on it. Its not dead.
I've given up on trying to say when it will be done, though.
