10K and the worse thing to happen was reading the oil and gas milage threads.

Here's wishing you folks luck with your 8's!

30,421 and still on first engine, no problems so far, clutch still a champ, my only gripe is the cheap ass rug, mine has a hole right next to the clutch pedal which makes me dig my toe and lift part of rug as a let the clutch come up... irritates me...

get the factory all weather rubber floormats... much MUCH more durable than the flimsy regular rugs, plus they keep the carpets clean :D: :icon_tup:

35k Miles- Had To Replace The Clutch Due To Bad Driver- Other Than That Everything Works Just Fine - If - Broke Apex Seal - Has Been Tru 2 Engines ,2 Trannies And 2 Clutches - Blame The Driver Not The Car

PriX 04-29-2007 01:25 PM

25k miles apex seals gone, getting new engine this week

limepro 04-29-2007 01:52 PM

over 60k miles and man i have had to get oil changes every 3k miles i dont understand it >< kidding aside i replaced the clutch for a better 1 nothing was wrong with the original. engine runs and sounds great not a single problem except a dead battery

QBallz 04-29-2007 02:12 PM

21k Miles.

-Replaced motor mounts
-Replaced center console lid
-Replaced rear bumper (uninsured asshole not really Mazda's fault).

No mechanical problems, car has never had trouble starting, runs smooth as day 1 (with the new mounts), and not a single rattle.

Compare this to my Chevy S10 (previous car, got it with 5 miles on it) at 20k and the rx8 issues don't look bad at all:
-Both front brake rotors due to brake bad failures (only wore the insides of the brake bads).
-Passenger side mirror broke off for no reason.
-Rear view mirror fell off
-Passenger side weather stripping fell off
-Both seat adjuster broke off
-Water pump failed
-Coolant seal burst
-Catalytic converter snapped

 40,500 miles normal new product problems but what the hell if i wanted a perfect car God would have given me the brain to build it.(ha-ha).lovin it everyday and even more when someone i never seen before says nice car any problems and i say just the norm and won't let it go untill it dies for good!

nycgps 04-29-2007 05:12 PM

TSB done.

Original Engine, Tranny, etc

28K miles no problem

Cody Red 04-29-2007 06:36 PM

20k.

2nd gear synchro is fuct.
Front-Right suspension (can't tell exactly what it is) has gone bad.
Just replaced my radiator because the OEM developed a hair-line crack on the top tank.

I must have the highest mileage on here....51k and im just developing oil leak problems. Gotta love an understanding dealer. "They understand they better fix it or else" I am just curious what the highest mileage anyone has seen on an 8 is so far.

there's a few guys on here with over 100k miles already

the most i've seen in person was expo1's, i think he has 80k-ish now :ylsuper:

and yeah, i don't think i'm gonna worry about the little oil pan leak, unless the dealer can re-seal it under the 60k mile drivetrain warranty, hmm, maybe i should call and ask...

llzjayarzll 05-01-2007 10:21 AM

58k with no problems. just the norm tsb! yay

someone hit 100k last year he travels alot not sure what hes up to this year. he was the first person on these boards to hit 100k

Maraku 05-01-2007 10:53 AM

40,000 miles and only problem was when I installed my AP Exhuast system. Had the whole limp mode for a good 20mins but that was about it. Squeaking breaks has been the norm since I got the car though :dunno:

:)

You didn't catch the dates on a lot of those earlier posts did you? I know I'm not near having the most miles but I'm now over 54k!

kwescott 05-01-2007 03:53 PM

69k as well. Haven't driven my car for the last month as it has been in and out of the dealer for a failed transmission. 2nd-4th gears were gone, shift forks were bent and bearings were bad.

No other problems with the car, other than a low dyno results at a recent dyno day with 18 other 8s. In looking at possibilities...either my low numbers were the result of drive train loss given the crappy trans, or may be related to failing coil packs...?

EDIT: Forgot about the rattling driver's side mirror, as well as one of the sunvisors exploding at the dealership. The mechanism basically came completely out fo the pastic. The dealership said that they had a trashcan full of these explosing sunvisors. The rattling mirror seems to be common with people I've met...most likely from the shock of closing the door so much.

EDIT2: Oh, and the black on the homelink buttons on the rearview mirror....the paint has come off, from the button I use daily to open/close my garage door. It no longer has that nice little homelink logo....

nolanrob123 05-02-2007 01:20 PM

Hmmmm, 59,000 miles and only:

1 Replaced engine, not due to recall, 1 alternator, 1 hub, 1 starter, 1 battery, 3 sets of spark plugs, 2 sets of wires, 2 sets of coils, 4 rear tail lights, 3 center console lids, 2 sets of faulty front pads, 2 rear trunk shocks, 1 a/c control panel, countless pounds of R134-A, more noises then can be counted, windows that would not go up or down, lack of power that turned out to be.......nothing?, and other then that, it has been pretty good. :fingersx:

edit: I almost forgot about all of those sunvisors that have broken at the seams.

8is>enuff 05-02-2007 01:51 PM

50000 miles. Low compression, clogged cat (W), flooded(W), new clutch, new clutch pedal bracket(W), new upper intake manifold(W), new O2 sensor(W), broken center console clip (W twice) constant CEL, broken temperature control, faulty ABS harness(W) squeaky clutch pedal (I'm throwing a new SS line and fluid at this shortly) broken sunglass holder, 2 new taillights (W). I think that's it. The (W) indicates the issue was covered under warranty.

Somehow I still love the car. Thankfully I'm just about done paying it off. Then I'm going to turn it into a weekend warrior and get a reliable daily driver.

j9fd3s 05-04-2007 11:23 PM

31k miles and 3 seasons of tack days. its been great. only thing thats failed so far has been the cat, early on too. TSB's have been done.

only things it needs right now, are the tires (they are BAD!!), 3rd is a little notchy, and the rear shocks are getting a little soft.
