Charles, you mod your car for the right reason. Because you enjoy it. I am a critic of people who only care about beating others because they have something to prove.

Uhhhh WTF!?!?

Back to the original point of the thread... I don't have a problem with people who want to use nitrous, but for me I'd much rather spend a little more money on safer mods that will actually be available to me at all times without having to go fill some bottle. You may have a car capable of mid 13s with nitrous but I'd much rather have a car that runs a half second slower with a few mods and that power is at my disposal all the time and not have to worry about the dangers that go along with nitrous.

Go RG AND RP!!! In the lounge, PM me... whatever... I am really curious as to why you both think so about John Kerry (I don't like him either, nor do I feel the CONTENT of his answers won the 1st debate either).

Back to the topic... why do people always worry about who's faster? It's like worrying about who is richer... unless you're Bill Gates or another 10 top person... there is always someone with more.

Ike, let's not forget that I am currently down to low 14's(like 14.1) on stock tires with 26K miles on them. With tirespin through first gear and a pretty good rip going into second, I am pretty sure I could crack the high 13's on good tires. That's without the nitrous. I would also argue that from a standpoint of physics, nitrous and FI are more similar than they are dissimilar. Here's another angle that I must remind myself of from time to time; the Evo8, WRX, STi, and now some of the new factory offerings like the Ion Redline and Cobalt SS all have FI from the factory. This means that most of the hard work is already done by the manufacturer and upgrades only involve a few bolt-ons and ECU mods. The RX-8, on the other hand, is N/A. If I were an owner of the vehicles I mentioned above I would be fearful of the day that the RX-8, or even a new RX-7, are offered with FI(whether aftermarket or factory-equipped). That's part of the thing with my nitrous project in that we are now seeing what performance numbers can be expected at relatively minor levels of upgrades. For example, a few bolt-ons and I am running next to the WRX. A measly 55 shot of nitrous on top of that and I am posing a threat to the mighty STi and Evo 8. The biggest difference from this point forth is the AWD vs. RWD. That's why I race those cars from a 20-30 mph roll. At that point I gain an advantage in that I am not dragging around a transfer case and second differential. In summary, all of these differences and variables are why I don't take these races personally. On the street, it's all in fun. At the track, it's a matter of driver skill and consistency.

Charles can you share a list of the mods you have so far? I checked your vB garage but nothing was listed. Just curious as to what I could do next for my RX8....and I have done a lot for just having it ~2 months. :-)

I guess I'll handle the vB garage thing if people actually use it. Take another look in a few days and it should be a comprehensive list.

People aren't going to but nitrous just to go fast.
Not good for engine wear.

All we really want is a faster car than we have now.

Hey Jag, I went and entered the info on my vB garage anyway just in case people have been looking for some info. Thanks for the suggestion. At least now I can refer others to that area instead of looking like a braggart by listing my mods over and over. Tomorrow comes a fresh tank of nitrous for the weekend and we'll see what the official numbers are then. The present fill on my tank lasted around 3 months.
