Short Shifter Question

Can anyone tell me the difference between the mazdaspeed short shifter from corksport and the AFE short shifter from Axial Flow? I just purchased a "mazdaspeed" short shifter from a guy and now I am thinking it is the AFE. The AFE is cheaper than the mazdaspeed. I just want to make sure they are not the same thing. I also want to make sure I didn't get screwed over. Thanks.

I have attached a photo.. it reminds me more of the AFE. I haven't seen many pictures of the mazdaspeed though so I am not sure.

that is kinda hard to answer, but i will give it a stab.. corksport does not make a shifter. if they are selling one it is likely the mazdaspeed..

and yes the mazdaspeed is very expensive.

how to tell the mazdaspeed vs the afe. well that would involve photos, but i the afe shifts are shorter.. first question i would ask is what color is the bucket at the bottom of the shifter????

and a photo of what you bought.

that is a afe short throw shifter with the kevlar bucket.

dont know what the deal was, but it is what it is..

btw, the white part should be pushed down over the larger metal area.

well i purchased the shifter for $250.. I thought i was getting a good deal considering it was mazdaspeed. I know the AFE can be purchased for that price. I will work hard at getting some money back. He should have known what he was selling. Thanks again.

It's easy to tell. The Mazdaspeed has the stock type shaft with two peice design and rubber bonding. It is also painted black. It also has alot more parts to the kit. There is a spacer that must go between the shift tower and the transmission, extended dowels, extra gaskets and longer bolts. That's why it takes two hours to install them.
So it's way different and nobody can confuse them.

the AFE STS is cheaper than the MS, but has a shorter throw. So ... really no contest which is more desirable.
