Exclamation Sema Las Vegas Nevada

All info that we have obtained from the SEMA show in Las Vegas will be posted right here. Along with pictures and video.
Now can some one tell me how I can post some video of all the Turboed RX-8's we just seen?. I have a "Sony 900X Digital8 Zoom USB Streaming handycam DCR-TRV260 NTSC"... What ever that means?.

Did you see the silver turbo charged 8 from Protech based out of Austin Tx? I got to see the setup before he left for SEMA and it looked pretty sweet.

i spoke with protech people... who claimed 310-320 whp on if i remember correctly 7-8psi boost, with a design goal of 350whp. I asked them about the 320whp about 4 times. T4 turbo with .84 A/R. They also mentioned they were having problems with the e-manage unit, specifically something related to the learning memory in the stock ECU. This problem to them would specifically result in variable whp from 310-320, which didn't seem like too huge of a range to me.

They said they hadn't run into any expanding plastic intake manifold issues, nor MAF issues.

JIC had their 8, forgot what coilovers they had but it had a stoptech BBK, and a FD engine.

The Greddy kit was there too. I dunno if it was because of emanage but the car had a monitor (turned off, but small in size) that looked suspiciously like output for scantool/ecu data. Or maybe i was just imagining that. Is this shawrf1's car?

only saw seibon on the way out. hood closed.

mazdaspeed booth had company 8 and someone else's 8 but with a mazdaspeed kit. forgot who.

I think I'm going tomorrow too... if anyone has any questions they want asked post here, I'll try to forward them.

SEMA REPORT RX-8 DAY 1

This is just a report of the RX-8's I saw on the SEMA floor today. I was stuck in an office most of the day so I only saw a few RX-8's

MAZDASPEED
MazdaSpeed was displaying 2 RX-8's 1 Red with all the MS add ons and 1 Black RX8 with a few MS addons and many add ons from other mfgrs such as Borla for the exhaust system. (BTW- seeing the MS exhust near the Borla really highlights how large the Borla exhaust tips are, the MS looks nearly stock by comparrison) MS was also showing off the formula car using the renesis engine. (I'll post when I have good shots if nobody posts first)

CF - 8
There were two companies showing off carbon fiber pieces for the 8. 1 had a CF hood with at least four vented areas two of which had louvers. Another had a copper colored RX-8 with CF fenders, hood, and rear deck. Neither of these were my style, but intersting applications of CF, particularly the front fenders done with CF.

I am sure there are more RX-8's and performance parts for the 8 on display, I just haven't managed to tour the entire show yet.

OK this just in WWW.SWIFTSPRINGS.COM would like to do a possible "group buy" for all RX-8 and 7 club.com members, Said Jeff Sausman the Vice President of Swift Springs from Ontario CA. Prices for the buy and rack rate prices are in negotiation via e-mail.

If it's in the GReddy booth, that's my car... plz send me pics if you've got em! You most likely saw the E-01, a boost controller w/the ability to program the e-manage:

That's a great location for the air filter, just curious why no one's developed a design like this for a naturally aspirated 8?

Gilbert,

Do you have any video editing software. With it, getting clips online should be easy.

They would not do a interview but I did get the audio and this is what was said...

"This kit will sell for $3,000 to $5,000 and will be late Jan or Fer of 05. No plans for a auto kit right now they are tuning the 6S/MT kit with 300whp. But that depends on how much HP the tranny can take on this car."

The I went over to the Protech booth and the guy that owns the shop and the silver RX-8 told me: "MY kit puts out 350whp right now and we are going to do final tuning around 320whp. With a full exhoust system from our shop and a custom 3 way pod where the NAV system gos on the dash."

OK I will get video of the Greddy RX-8 as they roll it out at the end of the show around 4.PM. I will try to have the video up asap. Trust me I am working on it.

I did get one more interview set up with the "Godfather" of rotary so to speed. More to come and pics will be up later to night.

The gauge pod from Protech is really sweet looking. They don't have a price on it yet, though. The RX-8 with the carbon fiber hood was from Seibon, and the CF car from Extreme Dimensions.

I'll have to double check my pics, but I think JIC also had a new 4-pt. front strut brace for the RX-8 at their booth as well.
