I had a Z be4 the 8, there is no match for just going strainght. I do like the 8 more tho, becoz it gives me a better feel, faster response, and better conering. Z is kind of too heavy, especially the new 06s. If i remember correctly, even the base model weight over 3300lbs now.

wtf...im i seeing this correctly...the ptp turbo has 390bhp but only does the 1/4mile in 13.5?

please tell me that im just seeing it incorrectly or that the test driver just REALLY REALLY sucks...i would have thought with that much power it would bring us down to atleast 12s but 13.5???...

My warranty will be up by then end of the year or early 07...so and lol

Anyway, just become the better driver, and save your money for something else. Or go NOS/FI.

But let me say that I have a friend who beat a 350z on the highway, with 4 people in the RX8. It was really close, but the race didin't go too long so it could have ended differetnly in the longer run.

I can tell you there is no way for a 8 to beat a Z on highway, even with driver only... unless the 8 is turbo, then maybe possible. or the Z's driver wasn't even pushing

Well, my friend talked to the driver afterward, and the z driver was racing, but my point is, there are a lot of variables in racing. Sometimes you can take what you shouldn't be able to. But having the power to win always helps!

an 8 vs a Z...

My first post on this site, though ive been reading it since i got my 8 in otober 2k5.
(04 RX8 GT package, 6mt, winning blue, ground effects package)

My friend has a white 05 350Z (nismo ED.) highflow cat, intake, catback, nismo sways, and BBS19s. and it is much quicker in the strait then my 8. its not a contest but..... when we wip down a nice windy road i reel him in in the corners b/c the 8 handles better, breaks MUCH better, and its generally more responsive. but like i said when the strait comes he slowly becomes a dot.

As of now my 8 is stock, but in the next month or so i plan on getting the following and i will post on the relative difference i see in strait line comparison with his Z.

ACT prolite flyweel & street perf. clutch, Greddy SP2 catback, Mid pipe & O2 simulator, exhaust mani (headers thought they are not really headers), pullys, piggyback ECU, and Mazdaspeed OR REVi intake system. (possibly a 40-50hp...)

midpipe will get you around 10, revi can you around 3 - 5. ecu can give you around 15-20 at peak. flywheel around 6 hp in the lower gears. So 40 sounds about right.

flywheel is about 400, install is another 300. revi and duct are around 400. catback (no gains) will cost around 600. ecu around 300 - 1500 (depending on what you buy). Midpipes go for around 200. So thats around 2300... If you're going to drop that much in one go, I'd say just get a supercharger or turbo and midpipe.

Any RX-8 who is beating a Z on the straight is either heavily modded vs a stock Z, or the 8 has a good driver and the Z driver doesn't know how to drive for ****. We can keep up and even overcome them in the corners depending on the road or track, but on the straight, there's just no chance.

the last time i was at the track and got beat by half a car by a c5 stock auto vette i had

mid pipe, borla exhaust, pro lite flywheel, tein coilovers, tuned, volk racing gt7 w/ 245/35/19 front and 275/35/19 rear, new clutch, im trying to remember what else ill have to go through my folder of receipts its been so long since ive even driven my car ill have to get my car dyno'd again since i left alot of stuff in cali when i moved hopefully it gets shipped to me soon we will see but it was the 210-215 mark.

i drove my brothers 8 today that only has intake and greddy cat back done to it theres a huge difference his clutch is also way lighter than mine is ><, hes driven mine a few times but right now it isnt registered for street use but he cant wait till i get it registered because he always wants to drive mine lol

Far as hp gains, you may gain up to 5 hp, but may lose 5 hp as well, depending on what type of intake you pick.

Not to blow anybody's BS flag. but i have my dyno graphs at a shop that specializes in Z's and he just so happen to be my good friend and with just RB intake and exhaust I picked up 16 hp over stock. and yes i stay neck and neck with stock z for all the way up to about 100. SO i do not know why u guys are so up on the z. all my friends have them and they are very much impressed with my 8. now if we are talking the new HR. motor. 2007 z correct we dont have a chance freaking thing is damn fast now. runs 13.4 q. stock. consistently. the old z only ran a 14.6 and we ran a 14.8

Yes. I believe it is. Dude...I've NEVER been beaten by a Z. And I'm for damn sure I'll take, in a legal and closed track of course, a Firechicken. I sure as **** wouldn't bragg about beating any ATs either.

Any bets? I take Paypal.

maybe it's different at 6000 ft altitude...but i've kept up with Z's and Evo's on the highway going from100-130. they slowly slowly krept away after that.

a corvette auto or manual still has more hp/weight ratio than an rx8 and with the fact that i missed 2nd and still kept my nose at his door thats not bad if i hadnt of missed 2nd i would have stayed even with him. ive never lost to a Z either i did lose to a srt-4 the first week i got my car i didnt know how to launch the car lol that was the last time i lost to 1 of those that wasnt stage 3 with some work they can become very fast.
