Where can you get the Greddy Header-Back exhaust at anyways? thanks

salituro64 03-03-2007 12:30 PM

Why do some after market exhaust (specifically MS Sport, which I have) make popping sounds when shifting gears at high (7K +) rpms.

jordanjerome 03-12-2007 04:54 PM

all I know this thread has died but I wanted to let everyone know that the greddy exhaust that was in the video was w/o the CAT. I have a friend who has the one with the CAT and it does not sound as good as the one in the video.

savedsol 03-12-2007 10:34 PM

Don't know or care if it's been posted but I found an Amemiya clip:
http://youtube.com/watch?v=tNk6qFI4BRU
http://youtube.com/watch?v=CmHF7PkelkI

Doesn't sound like anything else. Almost like a prancing horse?

Demon 8 03-17-2007 06:34 PM

Can anyone tell me about my exhaust that was already on the 8 I purchased? All I can read is a+geo+cy power. The pipes look to be about 4 inches in diameter. I have pics on Florida RX8club if anyone cares to look
Thanks

dillsrotary 03-17-2007 06:58 PM

agency power exhaust, there's a couple threads somewhere on here about it.

TimzSI 03-22-2007 03:59 PM

It's called "Agency Power". It's 3 inch, I believe.

As for the Full RE Amemiya, what type of cat/midpipe/race pipe deal would you have to run with that?

It does sound a bit like something from Maranello SavedSoul.

savedsol 03-23-2007 06:58 AM

Whatever type you wanted. It's a beautiful sound that I think I may just do this next month. Talk about daily driving enjoyment!

My mate has the R-Magic exhaust for about a year now. Last weekend we went down to R-Magic again to get the R-Magic headers and Sports Catalyzer fitted. We took the long way home - mostly going in totally the wrong direction towards mountains and tunnels. Here is some footage where you can hear the resulting banshee in action. The pipes were well warmed up by this stage. You can hear a few crackles and back fires.

Enjoy!

wow thats pretty loud for the US cars =x. but that setup is so sexy. id do it without the headers tho.

man, so sexy. lol

Nice video, love the sound.

Question. Do you know why he went with the R Magic header instead of RE Amemiya or the FEED header? Any reasoning? Was it just to keep it all R Magic?

Thanks

tpodowd 03-23-2007 07:28 PM

He went with R-Magic because he already had the exhaust. They are also top mechanics so his rotary was in safe hands. Also, we'd been out for a spin in their demo car and it wasn't that loud. It just sounded a little deeper and meaner. That was of course when cruising along at 4000 rpms or so. Above 4000 though it really sings. You used to have to push the car hard up the rev range to get that sound (just exhaust changed). Now it just breathes way better. I had a drive too and the minute I touched the peddle you could feel the response change. Its very slight with no lull before the power kicks in. He also has the MS flywheel but he's had that a long time and I'm used to the feeling of that so it was definitely the headers/cat.

I'm going to try and convince they guy to do a dyno with me in the next few weeks to compare cars. I have the Racing Beat exhaust so would be interesting to compare.

I'd be interested in seeing the dyno.

Thanks for the reply.

salituro64 03-24-2007 11:56 AM

Probably a stupid question, but I know computers not cars. I put the MS sport exhaust recently and I love it except the pop occassionally at high RPMs when shifting. Will installing the MS intake be a better match for the more free flowing exhaust and help eliminate this? In another thread I was told the car would need a different tune as in Interceptor or other after market setup.

Thanks for the clarification.

deadphoenix52 03-24-2007 11:58 AM

the pop is normal. if u want to get rid of it ur going to have to get a piston engine.

Niccoli 03-25-2007 07:22 PM

the pop

salituro64 - I have the setup you are questioning on my car (MS CAS and MS two muffler exhaust), and mine does the same thing. I'm not a mechanic, so I can't state any facts, but it's always been my understanding that this is acceptable. My parents have a vet with similar mods on it and you get the occasional pop. I kinda like it myself.

that has nothing to do with rotaries or piston engines- it's unburned hydrocarbons in the exhaust being ignited.

yes, i know that, but our engines give off a lot more heat. which is why it pops more than a piston engine does. thats my point

salituro64 03-26-2007 03:58 PM

Why didn't it pop with the OEM exhaust? What changed that allows more unburned gas to get beyond the Cat?

So this problem will not go away?

mmats69 03-26-2007 09:23 PM

i personally like the high rpm pop. i actually shift at a higher rpm now just so i can hear it. not good on gas mileage but music to my ears.

Not sure that it will go away unless you go back to stock. My stock one would pop from time to time but it wouldn't be that loud. My only guess is the larger outlets?

eviltwinkie 03-26-2007 11:02 PM

I think it has to do with the chambered design of the factory system. The chambers I believe not only quiet the whole thing down but do a pretty good job of containing the pop unless really heated up...I removed the cat w/ a test pipe and while everything is cool its hard to get the pop...once I really get on it...its a rolling flame thrower...

I for one love my tailgater defense...torched a landrover when he decided to be an ass and hold his horn while flashing his highbeams at me because I was going speed limit...nothing like watching them slam the brakes in horror...nothing...

Alterego667 03-29-2007 12:05 AM

Ok seriously what is a good web site to get an Exhaust system.
Mazdaparts.com seems like they do not want business they never write me back or call..
Any input on where to get a Hymee besides them...

EVILTWINKIE What exhaust do you have on you car...

eviltwinkie 03-29-2007 01:12 PM

All I have is a rx7store midpipe w/ factory...I was thinking of getting the corksport but really wanted something in a 3" as I plan on FI later on. I am still debating getting a premade cat-back or building something custom...

Alterego667 03-31-2007 01:59 AM

Mazdaparts.com wrote back my email went into their spam folder... Cool its all good now...

Demon 8 03-31-2007 02:55 PM

Lets see how much I get ripped to shreds on this one...Agency Power exhaust eliminated cat,....how much HP gain
