RP vs SR (correct me if anything wrong) Urgent place order today

i am consider to get RP ‘Supercat’ Mid Pipe or RX-8 Midpipe with silencer (SR).
What is the difference between them. are they legal is my most concern.
i am going to get one with the RB exhaust.
And i can't find the sound clips with this combination in the research...does it sounds much lounder??
Since i DON"T want to be so loud....the unquie rotatry sound is great to me.
every idea and suggestion is appreciated.

I had/have both. I had the SR Motorsports unit (w/the additional resonator added on) and it was a very nice piece. Unfortunately, it was popping/backfiring when I put my turbo on, so I pulled it off and sold it. I swapped out the the fuel management unit, and that allowed me better control of the A/F ratio and I was able to dial out the backfire. I have the Rp unit on my car now. It is definitely louder (no additional resonator), but still very well made & supposed to give a bit more hp. I would say if you want it quieter then go for the SR unit, and ask them to add on the additional resonator.

I also used both. I had the SR installed for over 2 years, and then it fell apart on me. It started to rattle, then threw a CEL as it was restricting airflow. I replaced it with the RP Supercat. The RP is a lot louder than the SR unit, but it is well built and I have had no problems with it (only been installed less than a month now).

I passed emissions with the SR unit, haven't tried yet with the RP.

Yes, they won't set off the sniffer, but if the inspector knows what he is looking for (not likely) then you are not allowed to change out a functioning emissions part. You might fail the visual inspection part, but there is a very, very slim chance of that.

how come this happen?? is there any thing wrong with it individually??
does it smell sting with the SR unit or RP either??
as for me i don't want it so loud, moreover, i do not plan to add a turbo on my 8.
so i guess there is nth worry about the back fire.
stand away from the noise, which one will you pick??
and which one give out more power?

the RP is supposed to give more power, but its not much to begin with. can't help you with quality though...

i'm in the market for a high flow cat as well, & i think i'm going to go with the RP unit some time this spring.
