Exclamation REVi install-should I leave this off?

I installed the RB REVi intake. During installation I removed the black plastic trim piece that the VFAD hose sits on. It is attached only by plastic popout clips. If you do not know what I'm talking about it's the plastic thing you can feel when you reach in and under the front bumper hole although it can be quite a contortion. My take is that it opens up the REVi to the outside cooler air much better but my question is this: will south florida rain (and you know how bad it can get here) be able to suck into the intake easily this way especially on highway speeds? The intake hole is out of the main airstream going into the radiator and AC condenser but I'm thinking the 8 maybe sucking in gobs of air that it may just pull some water into the intake. Any ideas?

Does it have an extension to the outside now ... like a RAM air intake?
Since the oil one only have a wider intake mouth but no extension to external air.

Exciting... notice any difference?

I have the Odula RAM intake with stock air box and I took the air filter out after a thunderstorm in 30 km on the congested highway... No water goes in for me.

No Ram-Air extension. The reason I asked is that I'm surprised RB did not recommend it when it will clearly help draw cool air from the outside of the car. With the plastic still on cool air is kinda restricted.

have oredi taken out to maximise the air flow. dun worry abt water getting in. i'm sure due to gravitational forces, water cun suck it.

i presume u are talking the the plastic below the vfad duct (and not above)before it is being removed.

difference for revi, i'm not sure. But the difference can definitely be felt for my former typhoon intake from k&n. with n without vfad and the black plastic for k&n typhoon, the difference felt is instantaneous!!!

yeah , I'm talking about the soft black plastic trim piece just below where the VFAD hose suppose to sit on and not the piece on top. The top plastic piece should prevent hot air from the engine from being suck in so I left that one on. It has been raining here alot but haven't much chance to be actually driving while its pouring so I don't know what will happen yet. I guess I'll find out soon enough I just want to make sure if somebody thinks definitely not a good idea to do it based on thier experience. Took about 4 pop-out plastic pins to remove it so I though what the hell?

Anybody else have done it?

yea i did it a long time ago, no problems. I also made my own oil and a/c screens with gutter guard mesh bought from home depo for $7. Took about 2 hrs to do. the mesh is heavy and appears to be the idential pattern that RB does. they happened to be out of stock when I ordered. It's aluminin and paints well.

Don't have a camera handy... but if you open your hood, see the the black plastic panel around the hood release lever? Underneath this plastic is where your VFAD hose is supposed to be at. The next black plastic piece just underneath this hose is what we are talking about. Basically the VFAD hose is sandwiched between these 2 trim pieces. You have to remove the bumper to see it. If you have the REVi unit then taking this piece off might help the intake breath cooler air.
