Reputation Of Centerforce ?

Had to cancel my order for an ACT clutch as there are parts that aren't coming in for it. Went with a Centerforce unit. I have heard of Centerforce clutches before, but can anybody give me their experieces (from previous cars) or what they have heard about them. Thanks.

I've had Centerforce on 2 different RX-7's. I love them. I had a Bonez street/strip clutch and killed it within 1000 miles. I don't even drag race. I've heard nothing but good things about ACT.

Had a Centerforce on my FC Turbo. You're supposed to break them in for 500 miles, I think. That was a bit tedious, but afterward I have no complaints about the part. It held its own.

Back in the day, I also used Centerforce Clutches (Dual Friction) on my FC's. They worked out great! In fact, the Centerforce's out-lasted 3 transmissions and 2 rear ends! hahaha Earlier, I also used a Racing Beat Sport/Strip clutch and smoked it up in less than 1000 miles.

I would never buy their products. Imagine one of those little weights coming off inside the bell housing? In the MX6/Probe community nobody who plans on ANY power-adding mods buys Centerforce. As an OEM replacement, it might be okay.

I had a centerforce on my mustang. Held up to 4krpm dumps at the drag strip. Can't say the same thing about the tranny and diffs though. I have heard that if you're doing high-rpm drag racing, then one should probably look into a scattershield for the clutch in case it explodes, like dmp said. I don't know of a scattershield for the 8 yet, though. I would venture to say that the clutch would probably be fine without said shield if you're just using it as a oem replacement, and not engaging it hard at high rpm's.

Did you have the v6 or 4cyl?

I am a member of probetalk myself but I didn't own a probe or an mx6. I had an mx-3 klze with all the bolt ons. Damn I miss that car

Anyway I would go with ACT or Clutch master stage 1.

We run a centerforce clutch is a 2002 S2000 that has been supercharged and it has outlasted the 4:44 gears that were installed. It is a center force clutch stage 2, no problems at all with it. When I see what the different kits are that are coming out (ie turbo / super charger) I plan on a centerforce clutch.

I had a Turbo 93 Probe GT...260lbs-ft at the front wheels...the ACT I had worked GREAT...was just 'starting' to slip on occasion when I sold the car after 3 years of boost, and a bunch of N2O before boost.

I met dangerous dan at MyrtleMadness!! :D

Mine was a one-off kit custom built. Actually, except for a seal going in the turbo, I think it's the longest-tenured boosted 2nd gen around. :D Partly due to design...and partly due to not being 'power-greedy'.

Here's what the piping looked like...

The tranny was/is stock, btw...

I have an RPS Street Clutch on my 300ZX and it has held up very well over the last two years.
