RB Revi install- is this normal

I recently installed the RB intake -- after the install.. I started it up and everything is fine.... but, I do notice a high pitched sound--not very noticeable but I was wondering if it's normal?

Also, I asked RB if the "red cap" is necessary to be placed on that stem.... I dropped it while installing and lost it...(duh) ...Anyway I replaced it with another cap from the stock intake box -- it has a Mitsubishi logo on it -- doesn't really help cuz there are holes on it... any suggestions?

Thanks for your replies.

Simple take off the cap go down to NAPA auto parts and get the same size plug.

no,

plug the hole. there is no plug in the stock intake

they didnt give you cap just to drop to the floor.

funny that cap if you use it is very very tight, like for a reason.

go to napa and buy a small piece of hose in the right size and put a screw in it.

i think if you called rb they might have told you what size cap to get.

beers

May be my middle aged ears but I hear no difference with the REVi until over ~3500 RPMS. Then when you get to ~6000 RPMs, it really sounds great. Of course my earing gets further impaired from the smile on my face distorting everything...

Lol, I dropped that cap too! Slipperly little sucker. And the noise is normal, at least I hear it too.

The evil red cap....dropped mine too and never found it. A golf tee works perfect.

delrmx01 07-22-2005 10:51 AM

LOL.. I was going through my stuff last night and actually thought about using a golf tee... he he he ...

Okay so the pitch I'm hearing is normal? I hear it when idling...

you are hearing the vacuum leak from the unplugged hole most probably...

Just buy the CAI and it moves the whine noise to the front bottom of the car and viola you can't here it driving.
